The Mysterious Case of Elisa Lam (Zombee told me to post it)

I've been following this for a while and this is one of the weirdest unsolved cases I've ever encountered. There are conspiracy theories and then there are creepy actual events that just make your spine tingle. Watch the last video of Elisa in the elevator right before she disappeared. Worse than any horror movie I've seen. eek

In February 2013, this 21-year-old student from Vancouver, Canada, was found dead inside the Cecil Hotel’s rooftop water tank in Los Angeles. The L.A. County Department of Coroner ruled the death “accidental due to drowning” and said no traces of drugs or alcohol were found during the autopsy. However, there is much more to the story than what is implied by police reports. The first piece of evidence that needs to be considered is an elevator surveillance tape that recorded Elisa’s behavior only a few moments before she lost her life.

Right after the events of the video, Elisa apparently gained access to the rooftop of the hotel, climbed to its water tank and, somehow, ended up drowning in it. Her body was found two weeks after her death, after hotel guests complained about the water’s taste and color.

Seeing the surveillance footage, most people would conclude that she was under the influence of drugs. However, Elisa did not have a history of drug use and her autopsy concluded that no drugs were involved. When one looks at the context and the circumstances of this death, things become even more mysterious.

Shortly after the discovery of Elisa Lam’s body, a deadly outbreak of tuberculosis occurred in Skid Row, near Cecil Hotel.

LA authorities ruled in June 2013 that Elisa Lam’s death was accidental and that she was “probably bi-polar”. That being said, some questions remain unanswered. How did Elisa, who was obviously not in her right mind, end up in the hotel’s water tank, an area that is difficult to access? Here’s a news report describing the water tank area.

As the reporter states in the video, the rooftop area is protected by an alarm system and the water tank is difficult to reach. How did Elisa reach that area? Also, how did she close the water tank lid?

What makes it even more strange is that the test for TB is called the LAM-ELISA assay for TB. Coincidence?

Orger GunsnHalen made a thread about this a few weeks ago because he and his crew are shooting a movie or documentary there.

I had read a story about this months ago when guests had complained about the tap water being dark brown and smelling foul. eek

That hotel has a very bad reputation. Lots of strange things have happened there over the years.

wow, I mean, there are several elements that are worth mentioning

a) they have a surveillance cam in the elevator but not in the rooftop? (not even one?) neutral

b) if the rooftop was isolated (locked door, alarm system) how the hell did she get up there?? You don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out that:

1-perhaps she knew how to open the door/deactivate the alarm = IF SO, who taught her; or, how was she able to do it?

2-perhaps somebody opened the door/deactivated the alarm for her (probably the same one who killed her or/and stuffed her in the water tank) Jeez ! It's pretty obvious that def someone working in that hotel had a hand in this...

2.1 -and btw, did the alarm system work that night, or not? If not...WHY? W-H-Y??? Or did it work but SOMEBODY didn't gave a damn or allowed her to open the rooftop's door? WHO? Someone who actually worked (works?!?!?!?!) there.

c) The autopsy said she was free of drugs, ok, but nobody, I mean, NO f BODY can determinate if she ACTUALLY suffered some kind of mental disease?, She was 21 years old! Where are the longlife medical reports/info about this young woman?

what a bunch of idiotic cops, doctors, and detectives...mysterious creepy case? more like incompetence/laziness...

WAIT, now let me add "INCOMPETENT JOURNALISTS" because...SURPRISE!!! There IS actually another way to get to the rooftop: THE FIRE ESCAPE STAIRS (not surprising, anyway)

...

la la-tra la la! so much for the poor journalists and their pompous "The only way to the rooftop is a locked and alarmed door shocked "

pathetic, really

this detail of the fire escape stais changes everything; too many variables now, it could have been anything: some sort of new drug, mental illness, suicide, ritual murder, murder by one (or more) psychopath, murder by one (or more) member of the hotel's staff, something that went horribly wrong (so they hid her corpse)...who knows ...

bah! stupid cops, stupid doctors, stupid detectives, stupid journalists, fuck Skid Row and its decadence and fuck the Cecil Hotel, hope it burns someday

anyway, necessary reading-> http://websleuths.com/for...amp;page=2

The autopsy confirmed no drugs in her system. The theory about an employee was posited but I assume they've all checked out. I read somewhere...will have to find the link...that just any employee could not have deactivated the alarm system. That it would have to be done by someone from the fire dept. Seems if it was just some random employee the cops would have a suspect by now??? hmmm I'm not by any means saying this is supernatural or aliens are involved. lol It's just scary as hell watching that video. hmm

For some reason looking up old Prince.org threads makes my computer crash. I don´t know why.

But just go to Gunsnhalen´s profile page and see if the thread is still visible on his page....should be because it wasn´t that long ago.

The org is almost as bad as this old piece of crap I'm driving... lol

The elevator video is weird. It looks like at first she was trying to get away from somebody but changed her mind.

The thing is, if there are cameras in the elevators then why not in the hallways and on the roof?

And did they ever test the alarms to see if they were in working order? Many times in a hotel half the stuff that's supposed to be working is broken whether it's the alarm or the ice machine.

I'm not sure about the alarms. I did find this--- "So how did she get there? The Water Tower on top of the building was 15 feet high and locked. To gain access to said tower Lam would have had to of passed silently through two locked and alarmed doors first. Apparently she did so. All doors were still locked. No alarms were ever tripped. There are 100s of stories about this on the internet reported by every reputable news agency that there is." http://artbell.com/the-mysterious-death-of-canadian-elisa-lam/

But it sure doesn't seem like an accidental death as the LA Times, HuffPo, & USAToday reported. Nothing else after June of 2013. Weird really. One paper said "International media outlets, particularly in Canada and China, have...continued their coverage of the story." Why not here? confuse Accidental? Like she decided to go up there and take a dip in the water tank after acting scared as hell in the elevator? Riiigghhhhtttt!!!!!! Also I read that her clothes were never found. So what happened to them. She decided to skinny dip and her clothes disappear??? confused

I read this comment under one of the articles and was wondering if anyone noticed 'other feet?'

"There is clearly someone else in the hallway that was smart enough not to put himself on the elevator cam. In frames 2:25-2:30 you will notice if you go frame by frame that someone else is standing with her but only the feet show. If the Water tower is where she was found and no alarms were triggered and it was locked, then it was someone with access to it. Nothing creepy or supernatural, just someone that knew the camera placement of the hotel."

Ok this is a link that has the actual autopsy report and is current (1-1-14). Apparently the family is filing a wrongful death suit so maybe they will look into this further. ("EL's parents are seeking answers through a wrongful death lawsuit.") Unfortunately you have to be a member to view the PDF official report but the comments give you an idea of what's in it.

What were her interests? Was she researching something?

What did she study or where did she work?

How did she travel to LA? Did she pay for the fare herself or not?

Has her body been returned to her family or did the LAPD cremate her?

Did they do a toxicology inventarisation, or did they just look for the mainstream drugs?

it's a horrible story but i'm not convinced she was done in.

her behaviour in the is typical of someone with psychosis, she practically skips into the lift... i'm not convinced she looks scared for her life.. then outside the lift she is experiencing hallucinations.

if the hotel is the shithole everyone says it is, then i suspect security reflects the low standards.

somebody is probably trying to cover their lazy arse & have gone about locking everything up in sight after the discovery. of course nothing makes sense!

i wouldn't fancy staying there tho

Ahh interesting this has returned smile i'm the one who started the thread on here recently. That was also about the hotel she was staying in.

That hotel... i have been to it. It gives me a horrible vibe confused not only has numerous serial killers lived their throughout the decades. But, there's so many shady people roaming their at night. Some i know are drug dealers! and the staff is very unwelcoming.

It's also pretty close to the infamous skid row in downtown LA. This hotel was actually on the news last night too. For a bed bug problem, which i saw was another nasty issue lol

The hotel just has the worst vibe... and it's history of serial killers, psychos, drug operations, and prostitution rings etc. Are infamous!

I do hope one day they find out what happened to her. Cause, the policeinvolved are fucking idiots.

Also, she was naked they said. So, she got completly naked, and then jumped in the water tank and drowned. Right...
