Because it's always cold in the Uk!!! It gets cold here in winter and we have snow 2 so I've experienced both and still prefer the heat.... But just like u I Luv the beach 2 - even on a cold wet windy day!!! mailto:www.iDon'tThinkSo.com.Uranus

Just outside of TO - minus 41. MINUS 41!!! U can't even dress for this sheit. Frostbite within seconds. And on top of this, last week due to ice storm and power outage we had a half million people without heat - some for up to 8 days straight. Many sick, many died (some ran generators BBQ's inside their homes - duh). It cost us Billions of $'s and we'll start seeing this on our already high energy bills. Between hydro and gas, I can pay - thru a bad winter - about $550+/month. A MONTH! It's enough to MAKE you WANT to crawl into a cave and get off the grid - all while currently, greedy energy CEO's take home an annual paycheck in the multi-millions (each).
Really makes you think about what happens when the power's gone. Sure there are firepits and generators, but how many can afford a quality generator, fuel (would cost a fortune until it ran out) or an endless supply of wood (you'd be throwing in your furniture). No hot coffee, hot meals, no water (frozen pipes), hygiene - no showers, teeth, hair, laundry; on a few hours of daylight each day, no electronics - NO MORE INTERNET, no hospital procedures, no electric cars or streetcars... etc. etc. Yes, I know - this is the way it used to be, but today, having all that we have - it's a fucking stark reality. And just turn it around with high heat temperatures, dried up lakes and no power?
Makes you wonder that IF some of mankind could survive how our species might adapt.

My best friend was just out here for the weekend cuz of a wedding he went to in New Orleans. I had a couple drinks with him and caught up. It was good. Hadn't been to the bowl for a minute. New Orleans goes by 'the bowl' cuz the whole city is below sea level and surrounded by levees.

nobody owns a thermometer cuz there's nothing to brag about! let's just say there's no need for air con but still need ure factor 50. we've also have extreme weather in uk right now, high winds, high tides, lots of flooding.. scary world weather..

i don't think anyone in the uk would stand a chance, the english would defo become extinct, we are so pathetic some places had power cuts for 24hrs & when the lights started flickering in my house we were crapping ourselves

It was -15˚C/5˚F here in New York City this morning. At least last week's snow was mostly washed away by rain yesterday before the temperature dropped.

Nothing like being trapped in a polar vortex. It's a balmy - 8 here right now. That's up about 8 degrees from yesterday.

Across lake Ponchartrain from new Orleans, on the 'north shore' its goddamn 26 degrees. The frakkin' pipes froze! I'm from SoCal and this kinda shit it new to me...in SoCal OR here in Louisiana's deep south. Its jot often(if at all) that I've personally seen a bird bath turn into a big flat IceCube. Portions of the muddy ground are rock hard. Seriously...TWENTY-SIX degrees! This is bullshit. Its too goddamn cold. I say this and there's people in places where they WISH it was that warm...and for y'all...I truly sympathize for I can only imagine what's affecting your thermometers and barometers.

Right now with the warmth of the sun, it's a nice 10º outside, but the "real feel" is -11º By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Hey, 26 is a heat wave up here. I have a space heater directed @ the north wall of our home @ the mo in order to keep the bathroom pipes from freezing. Older homes are such a trip. Stay warm!
