I saw Walter Mitty yesterday, I loved it! We went as a family, it's the perfect movie for preteens/teens without it being marketed to kids. Absolutely appropriate and interesting enough to keep their attention. My 9 year old has decided Ben Stiller is now his favourite actor (previously it was Will Ferrell in Elf lol )

I loved the scenery and Iceland looks awesome as usual. I'd give it 4.5/5 it was a fun story in a road-trip treatment.

Went to see this with my nephew yesterday. I asked if he liked it and he said he did. I was expecting it to be more funny for some reason, that's the reason I took my nephew because I thought it would be more funny. It was a good movie overall though.

We just finished this movie:

HOLY CRAP WHAT A STUPID MOVIE.

Whoever wrote "Top Gun" ought to sue the ever-living asses off the morons who ripped off their movie. This turd of a flick was almost a scene-for-scene ripoff of "Top Gun". We were all howling with laughter at every stolen scene. All that was missing was the beach volleyball scene, LOL.

Now, I've seen bad movies. And I've seen horrible movies. And I've seen movies that sucked. I've seen lots of movies with lots of flaws, but "Pacific Rim" was the STUPIDEST movie I've ever seen.

Even my dog was laughing at it.

I give this movie as many steaming piles of shit as I have the energy to post:

The Trip 3.5/5 There's not much to this movie, but it's a perfectly enjoyable way to pass 100 or so minutes.

LOL. Well, if it was meant to be a rip-off of "Top Gun", it WAS perfect! smile

And, just to cover all the bases, the ending was also a total rip off of "Independence Day", with the part of Randy Quaid being played by Marshall.

You will be impressed, however, that I DID see the very last scene where Ron Perelman comes out of the Kaja-Goo-Goo and wants to know where his damn shoe is, LOL.

Film poster for The Wall (2012 film).jpg

The Wall 3.5/5 I liked it because I think I could relate to it on some level even though I don't fully understand what it was suppose to mean. I saw it as a movie showing how wonderful dogs are, but I know it wasn't just that. I'd of died. I have no survival skills at all which I'm kind of ashamed of. Maybe that should be part of my resolution, learn some useful survival skills. Anyway, a very slow narrative definitely not for everybody.
the film is about a woman who visits with friends at their hunting lodge in the Austrian Alps. Left alone while her friends walk to a nearby village, the woman soon discovers she is cut off from all human contact by a mysterious invisible wall that surrounds the isolated countryside where she is staying.

I spent too much time trying to make everything visually work like it was suppose to work (in my head) I wasn't "watching" the movie. But I did get it was kind of like a romeo and juliet type of story.

Its actually a homage to many Mech shows, anime typically. If youre in tune with that you can find a lot of easter eggs almost entirely through out the movie.

Its very good and true to what its supposed to be. But I can see it being disliked or silly for people who dont get its background or arent into that sort of thing.

Well, that was totally over my head since I have never seen a Mech or anime show. Unfortunately, it was not advertised as an homage to stuff I'd never seen or I wouldn't have watched it.

But that said, I promise you that script is the biggest rip-off of "Top Gun" I have ever seen. My family and I actually thought it was an homage to "Top Gun".

Sadly I cant comment since I never saw Top Gun. How so if I may ask? 3 sentances or so only need be, not asking for a full summery.

Moonrise Kingdom- 4 out of 5 stars

Finally saw it. What an adorable movie. I love Wes Anderson and this is one of his best. Bill Murry, Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, and the two young stars of the movie.

The cinematography is gorgeous as always in a Ws Anderson film.

This was my favorite film of 2012. 5/5

Late Spring (1949) - Noriko is 27 years old and still living with her widowed father. Everybody tries to talk her into marrying, but Noriko wants to stay taking care of her father.

I liked it almost as much as Ozu's Tokyo Story. It's quite elegant in its simplicity. star star star star 1/2

Rashomon (1950) - A heinous crime and its aftermath are recalled from differing points of view.

This was my first Kurosawa film. My initial reaction after watching it was, "is this really considered one of the greatest movies of all time?" but reading about it later, I can see why it is. star star star star

Last night i watched Dallas Buyers Club and im still thinking about it.That movie was one of the best that Ive seen in a long time. Ive seen some of Jared leto's work before and Ive been a fan of Matthew McConaughey for a while but man, after watching that movie i respect those guys acting skills even more.

Dallas Buyer's Club 8 1/2 stars outta 10.

Also i recently checked out American Hustle. I don't know, maybe i need 2 watch it again. I thought that it was a good movie but i also thought that something was missing from the story.

Christian Bale was excellent though.

American Hustle 7 1/2 stars outta 10.

Most notably that the movie is the origin of this term: http://en.wikipedia.org/w...mon_effect

just finally watched The Social Network from a few years ago.

7/10

Don't get what the "oscar buzz" was about at the time. Definitely NOT on that level. I was reading some stuff about how critics think and sometimes they'll vote for what they deem is an "important film" versus one that's just plain good. I think that's what happened here, give how Facebook has changed the world and all....

yeah, the ending was like WTF or a bit rushed but other than that I just thought the acting was superb - Adams/Bale/Lawrence/Cooper were great - hell, even that mayor guy was great - and even Louis C.K.!! great year for movies all around
