Nocturna (2007) - An orphan boy named Tim is afraid of the dark. However when the stars start going out in the sky he finds himself exploring the world of the night his new friend, the cat Shepard, to find out why.

I thought it was very nice. It's a shame the movie isn't more well-known. star star star 1/2

Continuing my Christmas movie marathon:

Eyes Wide Shut (1999) - A New York City doctor, who is married to an art curator, pushes himself on a harrowing and dangerous night-long odyssey of sexual and moral discovery after his wife admits that she once almost cheated on him.

It's a fascinating tale about marital secrets and infidelity. The Christmas season makes for a nice backdrop. star star star star star

I do so love this movie! I remember going to the theater to watch it with my fiance. He fell asleep. I think I knew we were through at that point. lol

If The Wolf of Wall Street was supposed to be a comedy it is seriously unfunny, and if it's supposed to be a drama it is a joke. Either way the moviegoer loses.

r u some kinda tight ass or sumptin?

Are you some kind of drug addict? Seriously, what was good about that mess of a movie? It starts with Leonardo snorting cocaine out of a woman's anus and doesn't get any better for 3.25 hours. It's the arc of a drug addict, which we've seen in Hollywood movies countless times before. The innocent refuses drugs at first, meets a guy who convinces him it's all right, the fool starts taking drugs, debachery ensues, he gets in trouble, he ends up in rehab. That's a boring story.

I was all hyped because this looked really scary...but the only thing really scary was the creepy and haunting soundtrack. Made my skin crawl. boxed Some of the imagery was disturbing but I absolutely hated the ending. star star only because I like Ethan Hawke.

Watched JFK again. Hadn't seen it in quite a while. Still holds up! And many of Oliver Stone's points have been proven since.

The last movie I watched was "American Hustle". Since my last review was so long, I will attempt to capsulize "American Hustle" in a haiku:

Not everyone smoked back then

The plot made little to no sense

Oscars for Bale and Lawrence

Since this movie was set in 1978, I would like to rate it on a scale of 1977 Pontiac Grand Prixs - the most beautiful 2-door sedan ever to come out of Detroit. But sadly, there were no 1977 Grand Prixs in this movie.

But if there had been, I'd have given it two 1977 Grand Prixs out of a possible 5 1977 Grand Prixs. Here is a 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix for your viewing pleasure:

At first I thought this was such a simple movie but cute. It was only after Richard Gere's character died then I saw more depth in the film (from the dog - which was the main character - who knew?).

It made me feel sad for the dog because he was loyally waiting for his owner to return day after day. Then it turned into years that he was waiting, faithfully. I couldn't help but cry for the dog who sadly waited for 10 years until he finally died.

Anchorman 2 (2013)

A nostalgia trip, both for 1) the era of the early 80s, and 2) the era when the original came out (nearly a decade ago). Good for a round or 2 of decent laughs, but some of the gags were just awful, and Paul Rudd, Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig felt wasted. Megan Good held her own. Ferrell and Applegate were somewhat up to par. Glad I went to see it but disappointing.

I had some laugh out loud moments but overall, yeah, it was disappointing. I have no idea why they focused so much time on Steve Carrell and Kristen Wiig. Megan Good was pointless to me.

Paul Rudd had my favorite line in the entire movie.

As someone who had a friend run over by an impaired driver and killed, I didn't enjoy seeing Leonardo in the white car driving while messed up.

The Wolf of Wall St.- 4 out of 5 from me.

I liked it but can see why some people would be upset by it. It's based on a true story and focuses mostly on the "fun" debauchery, drugs and sexual objectification of women, and less on the victims or the crimes committed. While the events true, the focus for titillation purposes is questionable I suppose.

Europa Report 3.5/5 Held my attention well but it wouldn't for most people. If you have a thing for space travel the way it was filmed gives you a sense like it was real. Virtual no space aliens crashing through wiping everybody out, nobody goes on a crazed killing spree, no massive special visual or audio effects. Just a sense like you are watching something that could happen. I really liked it.

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) - Humanity finds a mysterious, obviously artificial, object buried beneath the Lunar surface and, with the intelligent computer H.A.L. 9000, sets off on a quest.

It was my first time seeing this movie--and at the cinema too. I didn't know it was so artsy. It's a beautiful piece of work. star star star star star

Moonrise Kingdom- 4 out of 5 stars

Finally saw it. What an adorable movie. I love Wes Anderson and this is one of his best. Bill Murry, Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, and the two young stars of the movie.

The cinematography is gorgeous as always in a Ws Anderson film.
