So sad! After several tumultuous months of drug abuse, cheating rumors, and separation, Khloe finally filed divorce papers against her troubled husband, Lamar, on Dec. 13, bringing an end to their four-year marriage.

Khloe Kardashian tried everything in her power to save Lamar Odom from his alleged drug addiction, but it looks like she’s finally had enough. About three months after their fourth wedding anniversary on Sept. 27, Khloe began the proper legal proceedings by officially filing for divorce from Lamar in Los Angeles on Dec. 13.

Aside from citing irreconcilable differences, Khloe also requested that the judge restore her maiden name, Kardashian, according to TMZ.

Though two huge fortunes are at stake, the divorce reportedly will be cut and dry. A source says that Khloe and Lamar signed an iron-clad prenup before their 2009 wedding that kept their assets totally separate, and without any kids, mediation may be kept to a minimum. Khloe is not asking for spousal support and wants the judge to reject any bid by Lamar to do the same, TMZ reports.

Additionally, Khloe’s end of the prenup had reportedly had a clause about infidelity, which, if any of the rumors about Lamar cheating on her are true, was a good call.

Khloe Kardashian & Lamar Odom: How They Grew Apart

Khloe and Lamar have been living apart ever since he moved out of their Calabasas, Calif. home shortly before his DUI arrest on Aug. 30. Over the following three months, Lamar continuously refused to get help for his alleged drug addiction, no matter how many ultimatums Khloe gave him. However, as recently as the beginning of Novemeber, it appeared that Lamar was getting better, reportedly staying clean, training with a return to the NBA in mind, and even spending time with Khloe and the family.

But even that couldn’t save the marriage: “Khloe will stay [married] long enough so that he’s healthy and back in the NBA and standing on his own two feet. After that, she’s going to cut the cord,” a source told HollywoodLife.com exclusively. And when a video surfaced on Nov. 22 suggesting that Lamar had relapsed, the chances for a reconciliation seemed even bleaker — and apparently she couldn’t wait for Lamar to (possibly) return to the NBA.

For Lamar, another source told HollywoodLife.com exclusively that he was expecting the divorce. “He’s expecting Khloe to end things,” the source said. “He already knows and there’s nothing he can do about it.”

After all the pain and worrying Khloe’s husband has put her through, we can’t say we’re surprised either that she has decided to move forward with her life without Lamar. Still, it’s hard to accept that it has come to this for the once happy couple. We hope Khloe’s shocking decision to divorce Lamar will end up being a beneficial decision for both of them.
