May Sylvia Browne rest in peace. I was a fan of her books. I never had a chance to talk to her, I wish I did. She had my mother's birthday October 19.

Empress

The woman was a complete fraud all the way.

Only suckers and the severely truamatized believed anything she had to say.

She was a con artist of the lowest order. I am not a believer in spiking the ball when someone dies, but she was a complete fraud who exploited some very vulnerable people - a grief vampire, as I heard her called recently.

From an interview with her ex-husband Gary Dufresne:

One night after one of these parties when she was particularly putting out all the garbage that she does - just like her readings now, right off the top of her head this stuff comes, no thought, no thought of anything else. Umm, I said to her as we were washing dishes and she was wiping or whatever, I said "Sylvia, how can you tell people this kind of stuff? You know it's not true, and some of these people actually are probably going to believe that." And she said - and I won't put it exactly the word that she said but she said - but "Screw 'em. Anybody who believes this stuff oughtta be taken." And that pretty much sums up Sylvia's philosophy about the psychic stuff. And it's carried over, you know, into her, quote, uh... fraudulent career.

According to Browne, “my accuracy rate is somewhere between 87 and 90 percent, if I’m recalling correctly.” This article disputes that statistic by examining the criminal cases for which Browne has performed readings. The research demonstrates that in 115 cases (all of the available readings), Browne’s confirmable accuracy was 0 percent.

and she was also found guilty of securities fraud. Apparently she changed her name from Brown to Browne in attempt to hide this conviction.

I must say I'm pleased to see that virtually everyone here has their oyes open to the damage this cynical and cruel charlatan has caused. Perhaps she'll be remembered as she deserves to be.

Good riddance.
If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!
