decorating ideas for room. mostly a question. but is it a good idea to put temporary wall paper on a sheetrock wall or i think its also called drywall. i'm not completely sure what its proper name, but the wall in my room is bumpy and i don't really want to paint it. Becuase of lack of funds and really lack of time. so i figure temporary wall paper, bad or good idea?

If your wall is "bumpy," wall paper probably would not work well. Wall paper needs a smooth, flat surface to adhere to properly. You said you want a "temporary fix?" Paper is not temporary. Removing it can be a pain if you don't have the right tools. If you want to cover the wall because it's unsightly, try a cloth mural stretched on a frame and then attatch it to the wall or hang a curtain rod on the wall at the very top where the wall meets the ceiling. Shir a pretty top sheet or curtain over the rod. Instant fix and drama!

Just go buy a big pail of 'Durabond 90". Slap it on, little bit of criss cross, some swirl - not too thick but enough to give the wall texture. Let it dry. Knock down any sharp points - and Voila. Paint it white. I have one wall done like this is my bthrm and it gets comments everytime someone visits it.

Rococo, if you own your home, Red's advice is great. If, however, you are in a situation where you can't make such a permanent amendment, you can achieve the same effect with a textured wallpaper, over which you can paint if/when you later desire. Be sure to first apply wallpaper primer. If you do that, not only will your paper adhere more effectively, but it will be much easier to remove when the time comes. I bought left over rolls of wall paper on the market.
I advice to look for the left over rolls and don't go to a shop, that's expensive. 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.
