A comedy starring Queen Latifah and Steve Martin as an "odd couple" is bringing in money and audiences across the U.S.

A few year ago, there was a movie starring Warren Beatty as a conservative white man who goes "ghetto" and gets a black girlfriend.

Why do you think the Latifah/Steve film is a bigger hit than the Warren/Halle film? Aren't Warren Beatty and Halle Berry bigger names in Hollywood than Steve Martin and Queen Latifah?

Halle is sexy, but not funny. Warren isn't funny... or as sexy as Steve.

I saw Bringing Down the House and it was HORRIBLE.

In what way was this movie "horrible"?? I saw an interview with Queen and Steve and they both said it was the funniest movie they'd ever made and there was sequel on the way. Also, it's made millions since it's release. How is it horrible??

First of all actors always say the current movie is their best movie. It's how the game is played. As far as making money...Hmmm...I guess it just means that a lot of suckers like myself paid money to see it. A sequel just means that the actors are going to get paid even more money to repeat the role; which is another reason to promote the hell out of it.


As far as why it's such a bad movie. Basically the premise is played out. I mean how funny is it to see white people being shocked by black people and prim proper white people talking like black people.

The movie is predictible and formulated. There were like 15 minute stretches where there were no laughs at all. Some of the laughs were made at the expense of taste and virtually every joke has been done before in other movies.

Here click this link and you will find about 20 reviews. Some of them liked it, but none gave it glowing reviews while a few thought it horrible like I did.

The Warren and Halle movie was released in 1998 called Bulworth. Warren played a rich white politician who has a nervous break-down and part of the craziness and zaniness is that he falls in love with a beautiful black woman, Halle Berry, and starts trying to dress and talk like a young brotha.

I think the movie with Latifah and Martin is a bigger hit because they're both comedians. Beatty and Berry are not really comic actors. Plus Berry is not a girl from the da hood, so it's not as funny when a rich old man falls for her.

Halle Berry is not that good an actress. She got the Oscar for being brave enough to get on her knees on screen and show her naked ass getting banged by Billy Bob Thornton.

That's true. Halle wasn't as big a few years ago. With Latifah, it could be that her recent high profile with award nomininations for Chicago could have something to do with her film being a hit.

I take this is true also, even though, I really liked that film, I've seen it a couple of times, and think it's a great story between the issues surrounding why they were together as an interracial couple, that had nothing to do about their relationship, and how they comforted one another, was very moving, dark, and spoke some truth, but that whole scene with the sex part, maybe they wanted to show some rawness, some real tension between the issues really surrounding 'White' men being with, and having sex with a 'Black' woman, but why did they want to do in this way, and exploit it so much, I think, they could've done it differently, and could've brought out more about the beauty about love, or not had shown it for so long, or maybe it was just to show, the real tensions, anxieties, loneliness felt by the characters portrayed and how that was released through their encounter, but in some ways, I also think it fit within the story, well I sort of have mixed feelings about it, but it was kind of disturbing seeing such a pornographic scene in a Hollywood film, which they can use against Halle Berry as 'bi-racial' actress, and how they are sometimes portrayed. It looks like they were really having sex, and I saw Billy Bob Thorton in 'The Actor's Studio" and he said they just did it, and it was something they never spoke about afterwards...there had to be something going, because they were butt naked. I’m not sure if it was an independent film company that made the production either, but that's beside the point,

And then you have the other explicit sex scenes with the other characters, but that's another issue,

I do sort of have mixed feelings about Halle Berry also, apart from the movie, but that's another issue as well...

The clones are on the way already. I heard that a movie starring Meg Ryan as the nice suburban lady and Damon Wayans as a nicca from the hood who fall in love is in the works.

This can only get worse. Next up will be Britney Spears and P Diddy in a musical version before movie goers get bored with this and start screaming "enough already!"
