900 Ibs On Leg Press

So i started with 45 today.... did 50, added 90 ibs did 40, added 180 did 30... so on and so fourth. Any-who i ended getting to 900! for sure my max at the moment.

Shit hurt though... could only get 25 good ones before saying ''fuck it'' My friend Andre was able to get before cramping out. We went down in weight... then up... then down. All together i counted about 740 reps all together! so this is the most reps i have done on legs and the most weight.

I also stretched after lol don't want my legs all fucked up with charlie horses tonight.

How much higher can i go? i need to set a goal by christmas...

Sorry...couldn't help myself.

That's a good workout man. I only ever did leg presses maybe once or twice - ever - and I'm sure I didn't come CLOSE to what you were able to press.

thumbs up! Keep up the good work!

That is AWESOME - especially considering how tall you are. I'm guessing your legs have to travel a lot further than most peoples'.

This is a video of a bodybuilder named Darrem Charles working out at his gym. They have much of the same equipment we have in our gym.

At the 35:50 - 36:50 mark, he is using the same bench press machine I use. And, he's benching at just about my max. He's got 3 45-pound plates per side for a total of 270 pounds of weight. The bars weigh 18 pounds apiece, so he's benching 306 pounds.

My absolute max is 311 pounds, which is the same thing he's benching, plus baby little 2.5 pound plates added to each side.

Of course, Charles put it up 13 times unassisted and 3 times with a spot. I only got 3 reps at 311 pounds.

Right now, I can max out 3-4 reps with 16 45lb plates on the leg press. Used to squat 400+, but I can't go heavy with that exercise anymore. Leg presses & hack squats are easier on my old knees.

Y'all should check out Dr. Layne Norton's Facebook page & Youtube vids. He has great tips on weight-training and nutrition. Took my workouts to another level.

Impressive. I haven't powerlifted in a number of years, and I can't give exact numbers, but I used the pyramid method of lifting, i.e.

Bench 135 (12), 225 (8-10), 275 (6-8), 315 (4-6), 350+ (2-4 at peak)

Squat 135 (8-10), 225 (8-10), 275 (6-10), 315 (6-8), 400 (4-8 at peak)

Deadlift 225 (8-10), 275 (8-10), 315 (6-8), 365 (4), 415 (2-3), 450+ (1-2 at peak)

I don't bench anymore, and when I do squats, I go for reps over weight (225-315 range). I never really felt like I got anything out of leg preses, because it was so easy to cheat on depth.

I got all inspired Thursday after reading this thread, went to the gym, and set a new personal bench press record.

316 pounds! Not bad for a 54-year-old dude, LOL.

Finally did the whole rack on the leg extension machine, 5 reps/265 lbs. On heavy days(Mon. & Tues.), I do 3 sets, 4-6 reps each. Light days(Thurs. & Fri.) I do 3 sets, 12-15 reps. Every body part gets hit twice a week. It's based on Layne Norton's workout. He spreads his out over five days, I worked it down to four (I don't lift on weekends).

I have to admit, I do get an ego boost lifting this heavy shit at 52. I see cats half my age who can't do what I do - LOVE IT!
