Woman has dance party with surgeons before double mastectomy

The moments before a surgery are often weighed down by fear and anxiety, but one incredible woman brought joy into the operating room by instigating a dance party just before her double mastectomy.

Deborah Cohan, an Ob/Gyn and mother of two, can be seen busting a move to Beyonce’s “Get Me Bodied” alongside her surgical team at Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco in this video made Nov. 5.

To keep the dance party going, Cohan asked friends and family to make their own dance videos and send them to her to watch during her recovery.

She wrote on her CaringBridge blog: “Nothing brings me greater joy than catalyzing others to dance, move, be in their bodies. Are you with me people?”
