Yeah, on my face. I had about 120 stitches on it when I was younger. The plastic surgeon did a very good job sewing everything up, but I've got a bunch of scars if you look closely.

What did u do to u r face???

I ran into a chain link fence while catching a fly ball in a soft ball game. The ends of the links ripped my face open, and almost took out my right eye.

I hung on to the ball, though!

Thank God a friend of mine who is now a doctor was playing on an adjacent field. He went with us to the hospital and personally picked all the doctors who sewed me up. He made sure a plastic surgeon did the initial repair. That's why my scars are not too easy to see.

If a regular doctor had done the initial sewing, I'd probably look like Frankenstein!

Fortunately, I don't scar too badly. I have retained only one scar since childhood. It's in my right eyebrow. Some of the hair will not grow there because of the scar. I don't remember the incident, but my mom told me that when I was about 3-4 years old, Tony, my male playmate, stuck a trash picker in my face. A trash picker is a long pole, like a broomstick, with a long pointed spike on the end to stick trash and pick it up. Lil bastid just missed my eye. Mom said when she heard me scream, she ran outside and saw my face covered in blood. She started wailing because she thought my eye was gone. After another neighbor came running and washed the blood away, they could see that the wound was in the eyebrow and that my eye was fine. I have a scar across my abdomen from breast surgery reconstruction. When I had to have a right breast mastectomy, fat from my abdomen was taken to reconstruct my breast. I also have a scar around that breast where the surgery was done. Best thing about that was twofold; I got a new breast and got rid of my pot belly! lol I also had two thyroid removal surgeries. I had to have each node removed separately, two years apart, because of my cancer history, but no scars are visible because I was diligent in using coco butter and vitamin E oil to reduce the scarring. I'm here to testify that they worked beautifully because the scars disappeared. I once sliced open my left thumb opening a can. The cut went almost to the bone. I could see the fat globules and do. Ewwwwwh! But that scar has since faded, too.

It was the 80's and I had working papers.

I was OK... I cried a little but the manager was FREAKING OUT. My friend said sorry a million times... I knew she didn't think my hand would hit the bulb since she was rushing. She never slapped my hand away.

I had to sit my hand in freezing ice water to numb the pain, the customer I am sure was grossed out and horrified.

I am thankful the burn was fast and not too large, I remember the healing process being a BITCH. Burns take so long to heal.

I have one on my right foot from when I was six. Some girl broke a soda bottle she was taking back to get the depost on and threw the round bottom part, it almost cut my foot off. The scar runs from ankle to ankle - went half way through my leg in the back and cut the tendon. I had 90 stitches on the inside and only 9 on the outside.

C-section bikini scar.

Scar on my forehead from a tricycle wreck - hit an uneven part in the sidewalk and the trike fell over and I hit my head on bricks that were used to surround our neighbors yard - corners of the bricks sticking up. I was 4. Another one on my forehead from a car wreck my dad had when I was 18 months. They are small and the scars are very light now.

One on my knee from where I hit it against a tree stump because some kids at school had ran the outside water fountain until it overflowed and froze up in the winter - I slid on the ice and fell on the stump. Years later - in another area of the state, I discovered that my then husband had attended that school at the same time, and his sister informed me that she and her friends used to run the fountains over in the winter-time so it would freeze up and form a sheet of ice on the ground. My ex-sister-in-law gave me that scar when I was 6 (about 9 years before I ever met my future ex-husband).

I guess it was scary but it turned out ok since I originally was supposed to also have brain surgery, but in the end they just worked on the skull.

The best thing about all that is I at least know for sure that my brain is not at risk for an aneurysm.

Yeah. I was playing left field in a co-ed softball game. There were two girls on base, and a big fat guy up to bat. He clobbered it and I turned and ran at top speed straight toward the fence but with my head turned, watching the ball the whole way.

I caught the ball backhanded with a full stretch on a dead run and I remember thinking, "Man, I look GREAT making this catch!" That was a split second before I hit the fence.

I fell to the ground, unconscious for a second or two. I came to, and three things happened in this order: (1) I squeezed my glove and confirmed I had the ball; (2) I heard the fat guy yell to the two girls on the bases, "He's hurt! Run! RUN!!!!!"; and (3) I tried to stand up but couldn't.

Heck, when I tried to open my eyes, all I saw was red because I'd split open my forehead, and ripped open the bottom tear duct of my right eye (that's how close I came to poking that eye out!).

So I got to my knees, threw the ball toward what I thought was home but was actually toward right field, and went back down. My first thought was I'd knocked out some teeth, so I ran my tongue around them but they were all there (one was chipped). That's when I knew I must have cut my face.

I thought I'd cut my cheek or something. I had no idea I'd opened up my forehead, and that the bottom half of my mouth was ripped off and flapping around (don't want to get too gross here).

The first guy to get to me started to ask me if I was OK but then all he could say was, "Oh, SHIT". That's when I knew I was messed up pretty good.

But that fat guy was O-U-T out!

Yeah, but it took ANOTHER guy getting ripped up on the SAME FREAKING FENCE (but thankfully, not nearly as bad as me), and him suing too, before the city of Baytown did something about it.

Then, everyone else followed suit. I'm sure I can't be the only guy ripped up by a fence so it probably wasn't just my lawsuit that brought about this needed safety change.

But I do know that until I sued, all the chain link fences at ball fields were unprotected.

The deposition of the city manager was so freaking hilarious. That poor guy had never played an inning of baseball or softball in his life, and had no idea how to catch a ball. I can't even begin to describe the ridiculousness of his description of the proper technique for catching a fly ball.

I will say that crashing into the fence aside, that catch of mine was picture perfect and professional grade. I was a very good baseball player and that was the best catch I ever made, fence or no fence.

This is a really stupid story. When I was about 7 and my brother was 10 we decided to have a thumbnail growing contest over the entire summer. We clipped our nails on the day school let out, and in August they were both very long. We went to the beach and while running into the water, I stabbed myself in the leg with my thumbnail. Blood in the water until I figured out what happened. Our parents made us cut our thumbnails right then and we were never allowed to have another contest. Anyway, I have a scar on my right inner thigh.

~shuddering~ That sounds like a horrible thing to have to go through!

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
