This Richie Incognito story is simply amazing

First of all, yes - that is his real name. Richie. INCOGNITO. And it's not made-up, either. He is....well, WAS a lineman for the Miami Dolphins of the NFL.

He's also a first-class ahole. He tells everyone that he is extremely proud to be known as the second-dirtiest player in the NFL. He goes out of his way to hurt people.

So anyway, the Dolphins have another lineman named Johnathon Martin. He left the team last week, saying he had been bullied. Yep - a 300 pound NFL lineman had been bullied. And bullied so much that he quit on his team. If you know anything about football, you know that is unheard-of.

It turns out that Incognito had done all sorts of vile and racist things to Martin. Then, after he was disclosed as the perp, his dad (Mr. Incognito to you) took up for him on message boards. That always goes well!

Today, the Dolphins suspended Incognito indefinitely, and sources with the team say he has played his last game as a Dolphin. And maybe even as a human.

This link contains all the Incognito stories on Deadspin. They are well worth reading. The level of this guy's aholery is simply amazing.

I've been watching the story since it broke a little more than a week ago. At the time everyone was saying there had to be more to the Martin story (storming out and leaving the team because teammate's got up to leave when he sat down) now it appears there is much much more.

I've never heard of Mr. Incognito but after reading his history of being an a-hole, its pretty difficult to take his pleas of innocence seriously. Especially when the guy allegedly harassed saved phone/text message you sent him. This goes beyond hazing this is a toxic working environment; no one should have to put up with or feel they should have to put up with what was going down in the Miami locker room. Roger Goodell will probably lower his hammer on this nonsense, once again.

I doubt if Incognito was pulling this mess all by himself; other player will probably be disciplined. Martin was a second year man in the NFL, he wasn't a rookie anymore. WTH.

Oh this is the who got his helmet ripped off by Antonio Smith during preseason.

He must have set Smith off because I remember Smith looked like he was gonna

beat Incognito's ass. lol

Well if he's going round using racial slurs he deserves to be kicked off the team or

suspended. Players say some vile things on the football field but that is totally

classless by Incognito.

I hoped Incognito saved his money because his NFL career is probably over.

Naturally, this is the lead story down here. Apparently this Incognito fool had issues even while still in school. I don't know if it's roid-rage or something else but he doesn't belong in the NFL.

This kid is no pipsqueak - he's a fucking NFL lineman. Just stand up to Incognito's dumb ass. That's how you deal with bullies.

I had to deal with locker room bullies in junior high and high school as well. Most of the time you gain respect dealing with them win lose or draw.

But I don't know the whole story here. It sounds like the Fish veterans were fleecing rookies and younger players. Incognito may still be with the team if those texts/voicemails hadn't surfaced. Now it's a race issue.

On the one hand, you are most certainly right.

On the other hand, the way this has worked out has cost Incognito his current job, his reputation, and probably future jobs too.

Martin's revenge seems to be way more hurtful to Incognito in this manner than if he'd just punched Incognito in the mouth.

Of course, Martin may also have a hard time finding another NFL job. But you can be sure he has a career in public/motivational speaking for the rest of his life if he wants it.

From what I've been reading, Martin is viewed as 'soft' by some of his teammates.

Things done changed, that's all I have to say. Back in the day, if someone gave you a problem/called you the n-word, you stepped outside and settled shit like men.

Dusty Baker made the same point this current baseball season... one of his players and an opposing player have a history of bad blood. Mr. Baker said, "Back in my day we didn't keep charging the mound, we agreed to meet behind the stadium and
settle it once and for all. Coach Ditka shared your point of view uP', "I would've kicked his ass."

It appears this case has more layers to it and isn't so black and white, no pun intended.

Its been reported, Mr. Martin was working in a crazy, hostile, and toxic work environment, this went way beyond one player fucking with him. If all the reports pan out, coach's, players, and trainers either were complicit, participated, or knew Martin was being mistreated and did nothing about it. Retired wide receiver Chris Carter has been measured and spot on with his thoughts about all of this. I'm certain Mr. Carter's thoughts about this incident can be found on ESPN website.

Martin is the victim; nobody has the right to harass him on his job. Martin was drafted, he signed a professional contract to play in the NFL. If Martin was perceived as "soft" as some claim he is, he wouldn't be playing in the NFL let alone be starting. Its not the responsibility of other players / workers to teach him how to tuffin' up and aka, be "a man" anyway. If some folks didn't get the memo, they've gotten it now. That why the General Manager of the Dolphins and head coach Philbin were reading from cue cards.

yeahthat

One commentator on a radio program today said something very similar to what I bolded. If it was a matter of just this one guy Martin probably would have stepped to him eventually.

Macho locker room culture aside, his performance on the field is what should count more than any percieved softness and this so called hazing bs went way too far.

nod As the article pointed out, Mr. Martin career is probably over too. The Miami Dolphins organization is saying what their lawyers tell them to say at this point. The Dolphin organization is saying what they think the press and the public wants to hear.

It seems to me some of these guys were playing psychological warfare with some of their rookie teammates because they heard "footsteps. Or, possibly extorting money from these guys to pad their pockets. In other words rookies salaries were seen as an in house bonus for veterans. They pull this type of shit in penitentiaries. This is some "Lord Of The Flies" mess.

First & Foremost Incognito & the NFL Sports Official that encouraged him to "Man up" Martin need to MAN UP and apologize to their Teammate & the Fans. It's quite obvious Incognito is a Racist and the language he's used against his Black players is enough to kick him out of the NFL. The SAD part about Incognito is that he's his own worst enemy. He was given a "Gift" to play Sports and he used that gift/ability to become rich. He was also given a "challenge" along with the Gift and his uncontrollable "twisted anger" gets worse as he gets older...One day he's going to meet his match and for his sake I hope it's Life changing and not his Death...

Gunsnhalen

I Have been following this last few days... and i really dislike guys like Richie.

As a former football player myself from middle school and high school. Guys like him give a bad image that all palyes are assholes, overly aggresive, and bullies. A lot of people who are not sports fans already have that image of football players. And this guy surely isn't helping confused

And the videos! homeboy already has lots of players saying he used racial slurs or was just a dick. Then he has videos actually saying the n word and walking around shirtless... yelling and acting angry for like no reason lol

Seems like a class act.
