I remember I had 4 wisdom teeth that were very impacted and really in there.

for about 6 weeks I was on a diet of painkillers and soup.

Just a hint, use a tea bag to stop the bleeding in your mouth. Much faster then gauze-like by about ten times faster.

U know. . when I read Lisey's Story by Stephen King...this was a remedy for the loony husband/writer. I thought it was just some crazy made up thing. But apparently it ha roots in truth. The writer had sliced his whole hand open and had his hand heal in a day or two having wrapped it in wet tea bags...so its exaggerated... But he didn't just pull it out his ass...which is what I thought.

I did this when I had mine removed. It worked!

I just had mine pulled today. I was very lucky -- I only had two (both on the top) and of those, one is completely grown in and functioning as a normal molar. The other was partially exposed and not at a weird angle or anything; the oral surgeon said it was pretty much the easiest type of extraction to do.

My jaw is pretty sore, but I've been taking Advil and using an ice pack all day. I was even able to eat some yogurt and lentil soup. So far so good - I don't even notice any swelling really. My oral surgeon was awesome; she even called me this evening to check in with me to see how I was feeling.

As they were preparing me for the IV (which I was really nervous about) we were talking about past Halloween costumes and I mentioned one year I went as Prince, Wendy, and Lisa with friends. Turns out the Dr. is a Prince fan too -- her first Prince concert was during the Purple Rain tour.
