Any plans for Halloween?

Now that we're in October, it's time to talk about Halloween!!!

For those of you without religious objections - do you make plans for Halloween???

- Decorate your home?

- Go pumpkin-picking? Carve them?

- Go to any festivals/events?
- Attend/host parties?
- Take kids trick-or-treating?

- Make/wear costumes?

I'm thinking of going back to this thing called The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze north of NYC.

They carve THOUSANDS of pumpkins and make various elaborate displays. Went 3 years ago and it was impressive.

At the very least, I'm planning on going pumpkin/apple picking this weekend with the kids...maybe pick up some hay bales & scarecrows for the house.

Yes, I like to put up decorations, wear a costume, give out candy. I always liked Halloween. I am working on Halloween so I do not have any big plans.

...so you go house-to-house in your street clothes asking for candy with a disinterested expression on your face then?

As an "fyi" my parents used to make us throw out any fruit or unwrapped candy sight-unseen.

You mean dress up as the teenagers who are way to old to go trick or treating do. I swear, when I open the door I'm going to get robbed! LOL.

hmph! I stopped giving out candy about 3 years ago. All I got were rowdy, unappreciative teenagers. I turn out all the lights in the house and watch TV.

^Is begger's night dying, cause my nephew and niece have never been? When they were young they would go over to the grandparents place and get candy, but they never went door to door. Then again my brother is a weird home schooling christian. eek

No Halloween parties this year; but I am going to a cocktail party/fundraiser at the Plaza Hotel. sexy

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

i haven't dressed up in years, but this year i'm going to be a witch for halloween, my husband is going to be a clown, and my son is going to be luigi from mario bros....what a mix...LOL! lol i decorated the house a lot this year for halloween, and usually don't put up this much stuff, but i felt like having fun with it this year. every year we usually take my son to our churches harvest festival, because not that many people in our neighborhood give out candy anymore. it's sad, but trick or treatin' is almost a thing of the past. at least in our area...most parents take their kids to special events where they hand out candy at the fire dept., community parades, churches, the mall, etc. we also will be taking our son to pumpkin farms and corn mazes. such as this one http://www.pumpkinmaze.com/home.html

My weekend plans fell apart...the weather was lousy and no one wanted to leave the house.

shrug

I was then going to get some decorations and at least decorate the house, but wound up taking a long nap instead.

My youngest and I decided to make a scarecrow from scratch...we (I) got as far as the pants and shirt. Couldn't find anything to make a head/face from. That'll be "stage II" after I hit the dollar store today.

Many Pagans feel " Halloween " is a Bastardization of our sacred times ~ I can seperate the 2 - Samhain and Halloween ...into reasons to deeply celebrate Life !

And I used to get such a kick out of giving the nice candy bars, no cheap dollar store mess either. I'm talking full sized Snickers and Baby Ruth candy bars. I had to stop when the rowdy, larceny hearted teenagers started doubling back to my house just to get another candy bar.
