Why are people on this board arguing like this about Taylor Swift??

She's a pop star who's overrated and can't sing very well. Of course, all the country bumpkins love her, but that's par for the course. Personally, I can't stand her, but I can't stand most pop, hip/hop stars these days.

Taylor Swift remembers learning much about music through outside-of-school activities, including her parents taking her to children’s theater productions and guitar lessons.

She sees her namesake Taylor Swift Education Center that opened Saturday at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum creating learning opportunities for other children and adults.

“I’m so glad this is becoming a space where that’s readily available,” Swift said before cutting the ribbon to open the center. “There will be demonstrations and instruments kids can try without having to spend money and buy one for themselves. If they want to hear a songwriter talk about what it is to craft a song, the fact that that can happen here is really unbelievable.”

Swift’s $4 million gift — the single largest donation by an artist in the museum’s 46-year history — made the 7,500-square-foot center a reality. It includes three classrooms, a learning lab, a family and student art gallery space, plus an interactive exhibit gallery that’s expected to open next spring.

In 2008, Taylor donated the proceeds from her merchandise sales at the 2008 Country Music Festival to support the Nashville Area Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and National American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

On September 21, 2007, Swift launched a campaign to protect children from online predators.

Swift has teamed up with Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen to combat internet sex crimes.

Swift donated $100,000 to the Red Cross in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to help the victims of the Iowa flood of 2008.

She donated her prom dress, which raised $1,200 for charity, to DonateMyDress.org.

In 2009 she performed on BBC’s Children in Need concert and donated £13,000 to the cause.

In response to the May 2010 Tennessee floods, Swift donated $500,000 during a flood relief telethon hosted by WSMV, a Nashville television station.

On May 23, 2011, she performed a benefit concert for victims of recent tornadoes in the United States southeast region. The concert raised more than $750,000.

In July 2011, she donated $250,000 to Alabama football coach Nick Saban’s charity Nick’s Kids to aid in the tornado relief efforts of West Alabama.

Swift once donated a signed guitar for the silent auction at a Wounded Warrior Project Benefit Dinner.

Charitable donations of pop stars who geta lion share of their dough from the general public don't really do much for me. Its kinda like their money to begin with that they were kind enuff to bestow upon you. All they're doing is giving back to the community that allows them to be. Symbiotic.....they better help out.

Whoda thunk a web prank of changing a cause of death from kidney failure to too much Taylor swift would end up where it has. I just thought it waS kinda funny. I mean everyone knows the broad is annoying...at least to the grown men demo...yeah?

And if she would annoy anyone to death...surely it would be Alfred Hitchcock....a no nonsense kinda guy. Yes...he may have been obsessed with blondes... But he was obsessed with blondes who had curves and cans.

If her charitable donations are to show her goodness above others, well...bad girls Rihanna and Miley have either donated more money or have donated to more charities than Taylor Swift - according to the same website. One donation alone by Rihanna was 1.75 million, plus she donates to 20 other charities.

Bottom line is, many, many celebs regardless of their persona donate to charity. Swift is really no different in that respect.

Taylor swift knows how to write a pop song.

Taylor Swift has dated a lot of people and that's a huge red flag.

Taylor Swift is a pop star which means she will be self centered. It comes with the job.

Taylor Swift plays the victim in her songs-but We are never ever getting back together-is a bully's song.

Taylor Swift is probably more normal than most pop stars, but there is some part of her that is like Madonna (bitchy self centered). Bitchy self centered people can do generous kind things.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

So what? I'm sure she's donated far more of her earnings than most stars. But still - what's the most impressive about her is how she's avoided controversy and set such a great example for young people. Especially when compared to such a disappointment like Miley Cyrus.

It really was hilarious to see "too much Taylor swift". I was in the middle of art mode and researching someone seen as a great contributor to the arts...Mr Hitchcock.. And to just randomly run across this. It gave me some chuckles....I'm mad it got edited 10 minutes after I saw it back to kidneys...

I did not anticipate the discussion would go where it has.

It would be a riot to see on her own cause of death when she dies....too much Taylor swift...she over-cuted and died....too much tayler swift.

...As would "too much kanye west" on kanye west's cause of death. His head was stuck up his own ass for so long...he suffocated.... Too much kanye west.

Its impressive she's normal? Melissa Joan heart is normal...sheryl crow is fairly normal. Wendy and Lisa seem normal. ravyns normal...Theo's normal...Vanessa's normal. That partridge kid is crazy...but the rest r normal....u don't hear about them. Lady tatas normal...she's tried drugs. But ain't all strung out on them . Paul McCartney is still kicking...fairly normal.

Most stars end out normal...the supernova's r the ones with notoriety and lasting impacts/images/memories.

I guess my point is should someone get credit for being in camp "ack rite". Like that's what ure supposed to do. Camp "ack rite" is where one should be.

I like people who can rock juuuust until the wheels don't fall off. Lennon..Harrison.....Richards... clapton...Elton john....people who stepped to the edge repeatedly and still live to tell about. And I respect those who tried for their efforts but failed. Its a mean sacrifice.

She's normal - especially when compared to her peer group, defined as people who attained a great amount of success at an early age. Just look at the messes that almost all young stars end up. The list of those who got screwed up is so much longer than those who made it through relatively normal.

So yeah - in addition to being a fantastic talent, Taylor Swift is a great role model. Mr. Hitchcock should have been so lucky to have died from too much Taylor Swift!

That would be awesome!

Number 1 is this guy:

Steven Lee "Steve" Cropper (born October 21, 1941, Dora, Missouri is an American guitarist, songwriter and record producer. He is best known as the guitarist of the Stax Records house band, Booker T. & the M.G.'s, and has backed artists such as Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Carla Thomas, Rufus Thomas and Johnnie Taylor, also acting as producer on many of these records. He later gained fame as a member of the Blues Brothers band. Rolling Stone lists him 36th on their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Mojo ranks Cropper as the second-best guitarist ever. His nickname is "The Colonel".

In 1996, Cropper was named "the greatest living guitar player" by Britain's Mojo magazine. When asked what he thought of Cropper, the guitarist Keith Richards said, "Perfect, man."

Along with influential work with Booker T & The MG's, Cropper co-wrote "Knock On Wood" with Eddie Floyd, "In the Midnight Hour" with Wilson Pickett and "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" with Otis Redding.

When Sam and Dave say, "Play it, Steve!" on "Soul Man", they are talking to Steve Cropper.
