He loved it, although he said it's not as easy to move around in space as the movie made it appear.
Thanks. It's good to get a perspective from someone who's been up there. It would be such a mindfuck for me if I met someone who had done that.
If you ever come to Houston, Texas let me know. I'd be honored to introduce you to some astronauts!
WOW. Thank you so much. I'd probably freeze up like a fan boy. That's a really nice gesture and It's a long way from Auckland if you're not travelling by the ISS but, you never know.
If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

It's an open-ended offer, so if you ever find your way in this part of the world, let me know.

Will do. Thanks again.
I suppose asking to go for a ride along would be a bit too much chutzpah!

As I've said on another thread, Gravity is a propaganda film designed to make everyone think America is Awesome again. The physics of it were impossible.

Really? Written by Alfonso Cuarón and his son? Directed, produced, and edited by Alfonso Cuarón?
Really. George Clooney as the Space Cowboy who doesn't get scared by anything? Sort of an American stereotype didn't you think?
I thought Clooney was more a Japanese lone, wise, selfless samurai character.
and the choice of culture seems like an American reality with the actual history of the U.S. space program and nationality/personality of the primary space travelers and vehicles in history.
It also seems unlikely that the director/collaborative writer of Children of Men and Y Tu Mama Tambien (not to mention a Harry Potter movie) set out to make propoganda that was simplydesigned to make everyone think America was awesome again. In fact the movie's American team in space or on the ground is completely nullified, silenced, and inconsequential in this story.

Spoil sport, don't let common sense, logic and good reasoning get in the way of a good conspiracy theory.

Yeah, I'm not sure how this movie says "America is great again". If anything, it says "Isn't the earth incredible?"....cuz the planet has a starring role in the movie, far moreso than Clooney does.

The idea of Clooney as a samurai is interesting, I hadn't thought of that. But there was no depicting of the Russians or Chinese in the film, everything was Americans doing the incredble things.

There were two people in the whole film. And it was set around a space shuttle so I giess it's reasonable that they were American. Plus a few dead americans in and around the shuttle whereas the russians and chinese had already got out of thier respective stations safely so I think they did better than the americans who had just one survivor. What do you think?

I guess I mised the part that the Russians and Chinese had already left their space stations.
I plan on seeing Gravity but I"m not so sure about seeing it in 3D....I saw one of the SAW thrillers in 3D and it was a waste. Nothing appeared to jump out at me...And to top it off the flick sucked..If I'm gonna pay an extra $10 for some 3D shades I want my monies worth...

I would unreservedly say that the 3d truly added to the experience, and I think it's very much worth paying the extra money to see it in that format. I wouldn't say that about any of the other Hollywood blockbusters I've paid to see in 3d, but I'll say it about this one. I thought some of the story elements were a bit wet & that held me back from really, really loving it as a film, but it was immersive in a way that no other movie ever has been for me, & the 3d added to that quite a bit.

You want to watch a movie that's set in space? Don't bother with the 3-D.
You want to feel like you're in space while you watch the movie? Watch it in 3-D.
That's not the point of most 3D shots these days. It's just to give the image 3 dimensional depth for the most part. Of course they do have objects pushing out every now and then, but not like in the past when there were gratutious shots just because it was 3D, like someone sending a yoyo your way for no reason.

I finally saw Gravity on Saturday and you guys were 1000% RIGHT! It was AMAZING in 3D. I felt like I was in space with them. I'll be honest with you guys at first it felt creepy. Objects jumped out of the screen and when the debris started flying at me I sorta ducked my head several times..LOL...It was a fun experience. It was worth the money and now I'm gamed to see more movies in 3D format. I have no idea why I didn't have the same experience when I saw the thriller "Saw"...Maybe it was in 2D or something...
