"Gravity" Complete and utter wall to wall solid entertainment. Go see it in 3D.
(If you don't like 3D... put out one of your eyes so you don't see 3D in real life either.) My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

That scene whre the satellite debris slammed through the Russian (or Chinese) space station was incredible.

not reading any posts... but it is said to be an amazing experince... i got a 96% at metacritic.... seems to be one of the best rated movies of the year... or of the last several years. And should be seen in 3D. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

I just can't believe how perfect I think this edit was. No filler, just the right pacing and variation of moments. It's really good on so many different levels as mainstream entertainment. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

I thought the movie was good (not great.), but what can you do with a disaster movie? The movie has great pace and action through out. I predict they will win Oscars for editing and cinematography. Best space scenes in a movie that I can recall. You really feel like they are in space. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

It was fantastic. Saw it in 3D (which is not always worth it, imo) and it was mind blowing.
Fine, fine film! :thumb: :thumb: [Edited 10/8/13 18:42pm]

Saw it last night in IMAX3D. You don't like "Sci-Fi"? You don't like 3D? Put that aside and GO and see it in that format. I don't do blockbusters and I only go to the flicks once a year but this movie is stunning. If there was no story and it was just earth in 3D for 90 minutes I'd still be imploring you to go.
I was on the edge of my seat, mouth open for 90 minutes. You couldnt hear people eating popcorn or rustling wrappers. My wife LOVED it and cried and she hates sci fi (it's only loosely sci-fi)
Most movies have crap science in it and although there were a few issues for the sake of story telling it seemed to me very realistic. The errors, intentional or not bugged me a bit but I'll forgive them that for such a mind blowing experience.
I will never watch this again unless it's in that format. Can't see the point now in watching it on DVD in a few months. It would be like being front row on the Lovesexy tour and then only being able to watch jumpy 3rdeyegirl footage on your cell phone afterwards. I was totally underwhelmed. Didn't read the reviews and expected something much, much different from what it is. Just another clichéd, Hollywood action flick, IMHO.

Ace said: Totally agree re clooney's tether scene, that and the close proximity of stations and Hubble brought me out of the movie for a bit as they were very unrealistic. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

Wow, seriously mixed reviews here. Thinking about going to see it. Is that a mistake?

* Are there any good movies out right now? I feel like seeing a movie. * More than likely, someone else will post after me about how wonderful "Gravity" is.

Blue Jasmine is still showing & I love Woody Allen movies. Does anyone know if it's good? Or, should I wait to watch it on DVD? Thanks in advance.

Yah, this. "Gravity" was quite good. While "Blue Jasmine" can wait for DVD, "Gravity" is a must-see in a big, 3D theatre. I recommend it!

* Sorry I didn't have time to read all the reviews earlier. I'll admit I skimmed very quickly and must have focused on Ace's review (although not intentional). It was very early and I was prolly still half asleep. * I'm not generally into (sorta or full blown) Sci-Fi so I don't want to waste the money if it's not mind blowing. * Sounds like it's worth seeing though especially in 3D. *

It's a great movie. Go see it. It is a great example of simplifying a story down to a focused situation concentrating on character interaction with that situation, classic character arc but very, shown in a creative way that has never been done before. It's total story telling discipline.
Some people are feeling enough to cry in parts.
It's Hollywood structured narrative, but it's good Hollywood narrative. As opposed to something like The Avengers. I don't care about that movie in the least. What a mess!
And people griping about scientific accuracy are picking at straws. It's like criticizing a poem for not depicting a news event correctly.

Of course, the most remarkable movie of the past many years was "Enter the Void" in my opinion. That shit was interesting and beautifully structured. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

The visuals are spectacular. If you like action and/or thrillers, then this is for you. I expected something deeper.

The problem is that movie 3D is not quite as good as real life 3D because it's not real. It's an illusion that forces your eyes to focus slightly unnaturally. It tends to give me a headache. At the very least, I find it distracting.
That said, I do want to see the movie. My Legacy

Thanks. It's good to get a perspective from someone who's been up there. It would be such a mindfuck for me if I met someone who had done that. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

Deserving of every honour it will take in the way of technical achievement, but otherwise merely a good -- not great -- film. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
