So I came home last night around 10 and noticed a towel on the lawn in front of our complex, but didn't think anything of it.

My housemate just came home right now and told me when she went downstairs this morning to go to school, she looked inside that towel and inside there was a dead black cat... somebody had mashed its head in, presumably with a rock that was lying next to it.

It's fucked up but scary as well. The boys who were living downstairs recently moved out after they had been robbed twice (but done by a guy they knew). I'm wondering if the cat was in connection to them... or just some random shit.

I'm really freaked because I often walk home alone, late at night from school... I'm wondering if we'll be able to break the lease (which ends in June) and move into a better neighborhood. I do have a place to move into, by the way.

I dont personally think who done that to that cat would be in turn cruel to a human... many people like that just do it because they know it frightens or upsets people

If you do however feel uncomfortable living there and there is another place you can move 2 I think you should.

They say home is where you feel it, and home is where (in theory) u should feel safe, secure and protected

OMG -- that IS fucked up!! Who would tortue and kill a poor innocent kitty like that? The poor thing must have suffered terrible pain. The thing that bothers me the most is that the person who did it will probably never be found, and will be free to do the same thing to another poor innocent creature.

I agree with the others, as long as you have another place to go to, break your lease and get the hell out of there!

OMG...the more I'm thinking about this, the more upset I'm getting (besides the fact that I have two black cats) the most disturbing part of this is that the monster who did this would have to have had to lure the cat over to him...the cat was trusting and innocent enough to come to him and he smashed its head in...
I hope that person dies in a firey car crash.

I remember reading somewhere once... (to go slightly further into the topic of animal cruelty) about the butchering of dogs for their noses... (somewhere where its considered a delicacy) These people lured the dogs to them and once again because of their trusting nature they were fooled... the had their main arteries cut and their noses taken from them whilst they were still living...

when you think of them... it makes you wonder how cruel and barbaric some people can be... how they can take pleasure in mutilating animals or indeed people..

The police always drive around my neighborhood as it is! If you sit outside in the evning, they will circle every 15 minutes or so...

This neighborhood SUCKS. It's awful. I want to get out of here but can't really leave my housemates - they would be forced to move too, as they can't afford to live here alone.

Thanks for asking about my psycho neighbors...we're still waiting to move as my b/f is laid off from his job and money is pretty tight right now.
It's been pretty quiet lately. Although, we had to call the police once becuase of loud music at 3 am and after that whenever we'd come home the psycho would blast music -- but that only lasted for a few weeks. The latest thing is that after a snowstorm a few weeks ago he shoveled the snow (the first time all winter and it's his responsiblity according to the lease) and piled it on top of my boyfriend's car.
I can't wait to get out of there.
Your situation sounds just as bad...don't stay there if you don't feel safe. Or, try to work out a ride schedule. Let us know what happens, ok?

Yeah, it was a regular laugh riot... But, yeah, you're right...shitty and little is what he is...
I think he has short man's syndrome...he's super macho and about three feet tall. One time a friend of mine was waiting for a cab and the cab driver asked him 'Who's Mr Macho downstairs?' because after my neighbor saw the cab driver he sucked in his gut and took a swig of his beer...all while wearing a tank top!
We call him Chicken Hawk...

Natsume...do everything you can to protect yourself hon...contrary to what was stated earlier, most people who seriously hurt/torture/kill people get their start w/ animal cruelty.

I'd recommend first looking at the lease itself to see if it has a clause allowing for early termination. If there is no such provision, I'd strongly suggest talking with a lawyer before breaking the lease, which can have legal consequences.
