I'm sure in 2001 you weren't saying "Anybody except the Yankees, they've won 3 championships over the past 4 years ... give somebody else a chance." lol

When the Diamondbacks won in 2001, I actually did say it was good for another team to win for a change. That was a very exciting series. Of course if I had known then the Yanks would not win for another eight years, I'd have felt differently. mad

You say "only three World Series since 2004" as if that isn't a lot. No other team has been in the World Series that many times in the last ten years. And this year will be their fourth appearance. If you ask the Mariners if the Cardinals win all the time, I'd bet they'd say yes. lol

It's all relative, three world series in a decade doesn't seem like a lot when other teams like the Yankees are in the World Series 6 times over an 8-year period (1996-2003) ... now THAT's a lot! lol

When there are 15-16 teams in the league and one makes four appearances in the World Series over ten years, that's a lot, relative or no.

You sure do like talking about the Yankees. lol

I live in the United States, that year everyone here was rooting for the Yankees because it was only 6 weeks or so after 9/11. It was the one time most of the country wanted the Yankees to win, because of what NYC was going through at the time.

Credit where credit is due, they were the only dynasty in recent memory therefore it's kinda hard to not mention their run of World Series appearances when talking about teams that have won a lot. wink

I like talking about every team, although I have to confess the Red Sox are on my mind most often these days. It's really an incredible story when you take into consideration the season they had last year, the marathon bombings, and the way they've shocked the world with their success. biggrin

With the marathon bombings this year, the baseball gods seem determined to make the Red Sox win it all and create a storybook season. I hadn't thought of that. It makes a Red Sox championship a little bit easier to swallow knowing that it's predetermined. I say all this with a wink of course.

I have to admit I'm nervous for one reason, Clay Buchholz's health. If he pitches poorly Sunday I think it will be a 7-game series and anything can happen in Game 7.

Wacha is just amazing, the real deal.

nod Reminds me of when the Pats "beat" the Raiders and went on to win the Super Bowl after 9/11.

I like seventh games. In those winner take all games, you see things you have never seen before. Like in 2001. mad lol

I definitely agree about Wacha. He said he was off on Thursday and he still limited Boston to only two runs.

I have no problem with the call, seemed rather obvious the second time he raised his legs was to hinder the runner's movement.

Salty has been all around awful of late, and Middlebrooks had an all-around bad game too.

If Buchholz can pitch without pain today, I'm even more certain the series goes 7.

And I wouldn't rule out Lester going on short rest.

Yeah I wouldn't say they can't come back from a 3-1 deficit in the series, but it would be awfully hard. Hopefully we won't find out.

Mets fans are notorious Yankees haters (second only to Red Sox fans) so of course you'd never want the Yankees to win no matter what the circumstances were. lol

I think Mets fans have moved up to #1 over the past decade. Sure the Boston fans hated the Yankees at one point because the Yankees constantly won and the Sox constantly lost, but ever since 2004 and especially 2007 all the hatred went away. I go to plenty of Yankee games at Fenway, rarely do I hear a "Yankees suck" chant anymore. The rivalry is nowhere near as intense as it used to be.

With the state the Mets' franchise is in right now, they will not be winning a World Series anytime soon so their fans will be hating the Yankees for a very long time.
