I gave up three episodes ago and had The emmys, breaking bad and boardwalk empire tonight so didn't bother with the finale. So he abandoned his son and became a lumberjack?

I've watched & loved Dexter from the very beginning all those years ago, but this season's pathetic storylines has totally turned me off!! I'm so bored watching it I'll flick through my iPhone & I'd never have done that b4. It's as if they ran out of time & decent writers with interesting ideas & tried to cram too many potentially good storylines in2 the last season. With a result there was no depth the characters or story at all. C'mon, would Deborah ever in a million years let Hannah hide out at her home?! Bet the actress read the script & was like "Hell no!" So unbelievable & unrealistic of Deb's character & it made me not believe the story anymore. The whole Hannah McKay story bores me to death!!! - dont believe the relationship she had with Dexter. Rita she was not! Surely this season could not have had the same writers as the ice- Truck killer, Trinity, or the Bay Harbour Butcher seasons?! So disappointed. I don't actually care what happens at the end cuz this season has destroyed the sheer Brilliance that Dexter always was. And don't get me started on how crap the character Dr Vogel was!! omg yawnsville!!

Well, seems like it was ok for me to stop after season... 5, I think? When they hinted at the "feelings" Debra had for Dexter, that was it for me. Hey loudmouth, shut the fuck up, right?

Dexter seasons 1-4 were brilliant. (Season 3 and 1 being my favourites). Season 5 was good. Everything else, despite my best efforts to like it (spare maybe the first few episodes of season 7) have been terrible. Sprinkled with a few good - Dexterish - moments here and there... but terrible. They kept throwing away their good storylines in favour of terrible ones, (Brother Sam, for the Doomsday Killers for example). And the writing, directing, production values... everything seemed to get worse, like nobody on the show but Jennifer really gave a crap. Even Michael and he's one of my favourite actors.
However, I have mixed feelings about the finale. I liked the Deb/Dex stuff, it emotionally resonated with me in a way I didn't quite think possible given how bad the show had become and Michael actually seemed to be trying in the episode, (as well as the episode before it), for the first time in a very long while. But as a whole... it was just a really convulted, contrived, poorly written mess. Sad really, given how good the show once was. [Edited 10/14/13 9:12am] Hundalasiliah!

This was the worst season to me, so the finale fit right in in my opinion. If you will, so will I

I missed Season 1 and then loved Season 2. After that it seemed like the writers left or something because it was never the same. Tried to watch the season with John Lithgow and it wasn't bad but Season 2 was some of the best television I have ever watched.
