Lessons from my mother

MUM TAUGHT ME TO APPRECIATE A JOB WELL DONE

"If you're going to kill each other, do it outside, I just finished cleaning!"

MUM TAUGHT ME RELIGION

"You better pray that will come out of that carpet!"

MUM TAUGHT ME ABOUT TIME TRAVEL

"If you don't straighten up, I'll knock you into next week!"

MUM TAUGHT ME LOGIC

"Because I said so, that's why!"

MUM TAUGHT ME FORESIGHT

"Make sure you wear clean underwear in case you're in an accident."

MUM TAUGHT ME IRONY

"Keep laughing and I'll give you something to cry about!"

MUM TAUGHT ME ABOUT THE SCIENCE OF OSMOSIS

"Shut your mouth and eat your supper!"

MUM TAUGHT ME ABOUT CONTORTIONISM

"Will you look at the dirt on the back of your neck?"

MUM TAUGHT ME ABOUT STAMINA

"You'll sit there until all that spinach is gone!"

MUM TAUGHT ME ABOUT WEATHER

"It looks like a tornado went through your room!"

MUM TAUGHT ME HOW TO SOLVE PHYSICS PROBLEMS

"If I yelled because I saw a meteor coming toward you, would you listen then?"

MUM TAUGHT ME ABOUT HYPOCRISY

"If I told you once, I've told you a million times-don't exaggerate!"

MUM TAUGHT ME ABOUT BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION

"Stop acting like your father!"

MUM TAUGHT ME ABOUT ENVY

"There are millions of less fortunate kids in this world who don't have wonderful parents like you do!"

And most of all...

MUM TAUGHT ME THE CIRCLE OF LIFE

"I brought you into this world, I can take you out!"
When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

Mum's are great. Shame that they don't last as long as we do, though.

No, Mum's generally tend to expire long before you do.

You're right. I've always had a good relationship with my Mother (and Father) and I'm so happy about that. And combining your post with mine, I think we can all come to the conclusion that life really is too short. Your parents won't be around forever, so it's a good idea to really get to know them and learn about their history. One day you will turn into them and if you've got to know and understand them, then at least you'll be prepared for what you're going to become.

That wasn't aimed directly at you, MostBeautifulGrlNTheWorld. I wouldn't dream of making comment on your situation. It was just meant as a general comment.

Whenever I asked my mum a question like 'Can I go out and play/get some sweets etc' her answer was 'We'll see' - See what? confuse

If I asked my Dad a question wanting information, he replied (and still does!) 'If you don't know, I am not going to tell you'. confuse again..

When my Mum used to go shopping or whatever and she left me in the car with my sister while she popped out, she would say " I will only be 2 ticks, keep an eye on your sister".

2 ticks? What are they? How can I keep my eye on my sister? I tried but just couldnt physically do it.. confuse yet again..

If I cried about something my Dad used to say "Stop crying like a baby.. or I will give you something to cry about".

cry .....WHAP!!!!!

And why when you ask your Mum something she says.."Ask your father"...

lol
