Fans seem to get some cockiness online especially if another artist doesn't quite agree with what their favorite artist is doing. Madonna never backed down when Gaga fans were threatening her. But I guess Cher's not made like that. neutral

Well who knows the extent of the threats

Only reason I brought it up was because some of them were attacking Lorde (for no reason) after her "Royals" song topped Miley's on iTunes.

If people keep speaking up about that trainwreck it might do some good...thanks Cher.

I hope that there was a lot of public backlash as well. Maybe that will minimize the chances of other such foolishness being passed off as entertainment in the future.

I wouldn't have cared if Miley Cyrus had been butt ass naked if her performance had the slightest resemblance of TALENT to it but it didn't. Her singing was off as hell and I don't give a damn what anyone says a flat booty girl twerking and grinding all over the place and putting her face up to the big booty of a girl in a furry outfit is NOT dancing!

cool

Isn't actually having some ass the first requirement for twerking? lol lol

Don't get me wrong, I think ALL of 'em (everyone) should just shut up and do music. As far as opinions and voicing them goes, more power to anyone who has one and wants to express it. I certainly have no problem in that regard. However, when that opinion becomes more interesting than what you're supposed to be known for, it causes one, the other, or both of them, to lose a lot of their initial importance, value, weight, etc. The same goes for ass shaking, taking your clothes off and all other forms of questionably "artistic" (i.e. attention getting) behavior. If it's not doing something to elevate the art, then don't do it. Unfortunately, so much of what passes for popular "entertainment"/"art" these days is more involved with ass shaking, someone opening their mouth, or worse, than anything to do with the actual music. So while I agree with Cher's critique of Miley Cyrus (before she embarrassed herself further by backtracking), I'm also tired of Cher talking shit about everyone, particular when you consider she took her old ass out for no good reason over twenty years ago.

She should not have kept her mouth shut. People close to Miley, including her fans, are probably not being honest with her and telling her the performance was terrible. Everything she did looked forced and awkward.

Pink Thinks "Really Talented" Miley Cyrus Can Do Better: "It's Tacky"

Pink, Miley CyrusGetty Images

Pink is not too happy with Miley Cyrus' latest performance choices.

"Am I into it?" the rocker told me yesterday while promoting her big screen acting debut in Thanks for Sharing. "No, I think it's tacky."

Before the Cyrus supporters start tweetin' hate toward Pink, hear her out.

"She's really freaking talented," she said of the foam-finger-loving pop star. "She's beautiful. She can sing her ass off and to go up there and do that? She's cheating herself and she's cheating the rest of us…She can do what she wants. People can like it if they want. I'm not going to buy it. She can do better. I've seen her do better."

I would be the last person to ever defend Miley Cyrus, so don't take this too seriously. lol

I was moderately shocked when I ran into these videos. At the very least, there is no autotune going on here. She doesn't have a great voice, and it's even less impressive as far as being distinctive goes. But I have to agree, she CAN do better than that Mtv "performace".

I thought the only requirement for that kind of "entertainment" was you work at a strip club. Now that all these silly heffas are twerking all over the place for free, strippers must be mad as hell. falloff

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I'm not surprise. These new millennium fans are vicious, aren't they. Threatening to kill Selena when she was with Justin. And Taylor Swift fans are the worst. smh

Miley shows in those vids she has a very good voice.

Cher was right the first time though. Don't like to hear her backing down from her statement! How will the kid learn without a few slaps from some legends?

Music, sweet music, I wish I could caress and...kiss, kiss...
