You DID, though, tell her that CarrieLee & I are definitely attending, right??...:O

I have control over the guest list...don't worry...

Then tell her you are inviting 50 Prince fans. lol

I wish... big grin However, financial limitations allow me to only invite a couple...they know who they are...

If I had the money, I would invite you all. And probably punch half of you. wink

lol

I figured it would be a good scared straight tactic. biggrin

How does one tell their mother to politely mind their own fucking business re: their wedding plans?

HEEELP ME!!!

Give her a job to do. It doesn't have to be the most important one, but she will feel like she's wanted.
Now you could give her the table arrangements, booking the cars or arranging the wedding photographer. Anything to get her off your back.

This is a good suggestion. It's really not unheard of for the moms to plan a wedding. Usually, though, it's the bride's mother who plans it. And if she is paying for it, you should let her do some of the work.

But definitely keep the rehearsal dinner invites to a minimum.

CarrieLee

Another reason for me to never get married.

I've already told my mother I'm wearing a red dress with a red veil, red come fuck me high heels and the wedding party is in black. Oh and a guitar version of "here comes the bride" when I walk down the aisle.

It's either that or elope!

KS your mom will get over it eventually. Do what you have to do...

You just gotta put your foot down & TELL her how it's gonna be. She won't like it, she'll be pissy. But on the day she'll be happy & she'll know she ain't running shit in your life. Sorry she's being so unreasonable sad hug
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

King Sausage, rehearsal parties are usually just for members of the wedding party...

My girlfriend was going through this with her mom, she was so fed up with the crying, and how could you do this to me...She and her fiance flew to Las Vegas and got married.

When she returned she so very nicely told her parents that she did it this way to avoid the animosity that she was starting to feel towards her mom... All is well.

Good Luck and don't let this get in the way of your happy day! hug

Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, it means you've decided to look beyond the imperfections... unknown

Ah, but this could be a good tactic to tell your mom. Threaten to invite 50 of your Org friends to the rehearsal dinner if she doesn't back off. Just tell her that the freaks with otters, muppets and Star Wars characters will all show up, and she will have to feed them! In fact, tell her we'll all show up dressed as our avatars! Imagine Wellbeyond in dreads, Icenine in an otter costume, mingling with your mom's family! It could work!

Watch My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Seriously, do it. Even if you already saw it a while ago. This will give you persepctive and a sense of humor.

Then call her and point out to her that your wedding is, after all, just a party. An important party to celebrate an important event in your life. But just a party. Ask her if it's really worth fighting about.

And then point out that the rehearsal dinner is a welcome-and-thank-you to the people who are actually IN the wedding, not an extension of the wedding itself, and it would be rude not to invite their spouses, but that's IT.

And point out that she already (presumably) got to have HER wedding, now it's your turn.

And then sit yourself down and realize that it will all pass and you'll all look back at it and laugh, and if you start laughing now it will make it easier.

All of that crap is why I got married in the woods with four other people present. smile
