I don't know if she sold out. It was an interesting read, but it honestly didn't have any effect on me. It didn't change my opinion of her even the tiniest bit. I guess the way she implied Connie Chung had the same surgery too was a little crass, though.

Nope. To be honest, I don't keep up on all the who's who and the what's what. In other words, gossip and what's going on in celebrities lives. It doesn't interest me much. Once in awhile I'll hear something or see something on the internet but I'm honestly too busy in my own personal life. I don't read gossip magazines and I don't frequent gossip sites. Busy hands are happy hands. IMO, there are more edifying & constructive things for me to do with my free time than catch up on what TV personalities are doing with their lives.

I have no idea who she is.

That said, I find this heart-breaking and at the same time really, really common. Yes, this has an extra yucky dimension being that it is racist in nature, but how many women are told they need plastic surgery in order to be on camera? It's not just Asian women. No woman is good enough to be portrayed as she is naturally in the media whether tv, movies, print, whathaveyou.

It's sickening.

Unfortunately, many people of color fall victim to this - thinking they have to alter themselves to fit 'western' ideas of beauty. We've all read the news stories - Asian women having their eyes rounded, skin-lightening products used in India and parts of Africa - brainwashing is a mfer. I look at pictures of my relatives from the 40s & 50s with conked hair - this shit ain't nothing new. Black folks regained their senses during the late 60s & 70s, but it didn't last.

Her career really took off when she started fucking the head of CBS.

I saw a clip of her talking about this. Yes, it is sickening the sexism, racism and bigotry that still goes on in this country. I'm sure women are still being told, "you're not good enough because you're too this and not enough of that" If she had of been an asian man, I doubt very seriously if the shape of his eyes, nose, belly or anything else would have been an issue.

I don't know who she is, so I can't tell you if she sold out or cashed in or both.

Usually when someone has that drastic of a change made by plastic surgery, they have a phony looking face. I must say that Julia's face looks "natural".

That is not the question you asked but the competitive nature of her job choice, part of the entertainment industry, makes influences the people in it to do all sorts of strange things that they would not otherwise do.
