The trailer sucks and this film is doomed to fail. I hear it may be released as DVD only (on...April 1st? LOL) |

They already did a movie on MG.
This is just another rehash. |

And this one is indefinitely halted so I'm confused as to why they posted this trailer. That trailer is not gonna get people to wanna watch it unless they're THAT desperate for a biopic they'll take a fake biopic over the real one. This one will fall in the Basquiat/Man in the Mirror column of biopics lmao |

It made me want to watch it. I'm rather surprised that you aren't feeling it, at all. If you don't mind me asking and with all do respect, what's up with that? I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart. |

1.) They didn't use the actual Marvin music (they lied about that).
2.) They made Marvin into some drunk depressed (all the time) hippie.
3.) The "argument" with Marvin and Harvey was laughable.
4.) Freddy Couseart looked like Jeffrey Kruger LOL
5.) That line Marvin Sr. gave about Alberta Gay "bringing whores and werewolves to their home"
6.) Marvin may have been wearing skull caps into the '80s but the wardrobe stuck in the '70s.
There may be more but that's the main issues I had with it. |

I don't think Marvin's children will release any of his music, they own the rights to his music. Also, at the time this movie was set, Marvin was drunk and depressed all the time.

They're depicting Marvin as a drunk? I knew of his issues with drugs but I don't recall alcoholism. And I'm confused. One minute I'm hearing Universal owns it and I also hear about Marvin's children owning his music. So I don't know what to think. |

My apologies, he was high and depressed. As far as his music, I believe both his children and Universal both own it. I know that anyone that wants to use it has to get their permission. That's why they are countersuing Robin Thicke for "Blurred Lines." |

They haven't sued Robin yet though I don't think. That's kinda interesting they share Marvin's music rights... That must've been a part of their Pullman Bonds deal back in the '90s. |

I'm not sure if this trailer has sold me, but Jesse looks amazing as Marvin. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

τὸ τέλος ὁ χρόνος ἀπαιτεῖ.” |

The trailer just looks sloppy. Since this was supposed to have been sent to the Cannes Film Festival, they were obviously going for an "artistic direction". Jesse does some fine acting in it but it just looks...OFF.
I love how they made Marvin out to be this "saint" that saves his mother from what looks like being whupped with a stick by his pops and then just saying "kill me!" after pushing him. HUH?!
The real story of Marvin's death was stranger (and more volatile) than the film portrays it. [Edited 9/14/13 20:30pm] |

It does seem... "off." Almost amateurish, though I don't mean to be disparaging. I know this has been a labour of love for so many people.
You obviously are quite passionate about Marvin. How long have you been a fan, and have you done much reading about him?

I've admired him all my life. Have been a strong fan since around '96. And Divided Soul is the only book I trust about MG.
But yeah that was my point too. It definitely looks amateurish. |
