ST: Deep Space 9

I'm only posting this to say I finally saw "Far Beyond the Stars". That was pretty deep. I never knew about it. I'm surprised they went there in 1998, especially with Jake using "the word" on prime time. Sorry I missed it at the time, would have been interesting to get a feel of people's reaction.

I like that quote.

It's in season 6, Avery Brooks directed it, check it out. I'm preferring the later seasons, last half of 4 and up, he looks more in control. It just made me kind of bust out laughing when I heard Jake say it, it was the last word I ever expected on the series, let alone coming out of Jake's mouth. It was in content though.

ohhhh...u mean he said, "nigger."

the word is real. if u want to pretend it doesnt exist, fine, but you cant deny that for some...hell, many, the word is real. but to deny them that acknowledgment is an attempt to deny their, and our, reality.

its just a word....nigger. the hate is in the intent and thoughts, not the assemblage of 6 symbols that represent sounds or the vocalizations of those sounds..

I've hurt a few people with that word when I didn't mean to so it's not a normal part of my conversation.

BUT

It's not the word that got my focus on the show. I just mentioned it because it was unexpected and I'm sure at the time it caught people off guard. As I said I understood it in content and I ain't mad about it. I loved the show and what it had to say. I'm sorry I missed it when it originally aired. And I thought it's kind of funny I saw it now, seemed perfect.

it was an excellent episode...im kinda mad i stopped the series.

i know the word offends...i suppose it should. i understands peoples reluctance with it. i just feel sometimes its avoidance will lead to forgetting the hate behind its use at times. these emotions need to be forgiven, not forgotten.

im sorry ibgot all nutso in your thread.

Yeah I missed a lot. I adored the tribble episode.

I think I'm agreeing with the consensus that season 6 is sizing up to be the best season.
