So I put my new disk 1 CD into the computer...

...and this is what it shows

[img:$uid]http://i267.pho.../img:$uid]

Which would be fine except I bought...

Sooooooo, uhhh. What?

After some moments of head scratching confusion, I actually decided to listen to the CD, and it has all right songs, just all the wrong information. This has never happened to me so I'm curious, WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED?

I thought I bought Saturday Night Fever back in the day, when I played it it was the soundtrack to the Color Purple... Which was all good since I love the songs from The Color Purple!!
~~~~~ Oh that voice...incredible....there should be a musical instrument called George Michael... ~~~~~
I weren't laughing. I got my Target receipt, got the plastic wrap it came in and that's when I noticed the little sticker on it that pretty much said that even with a receipt it can't be returned once the plastic wrap was removed. Oh I weren't laughing.
Anyway, I have all the songs and I can edit the info in my computer except for the picture, too lazy right now to put in the correct composers information. But I'll live since I did get most of what I paid for, I now laugh at the weirdness. Disk 2 was fine.
I don't use Windoze or its Media Player, but this looks like another case of Microsoft software screwing up.
Not the first, won't be the last, time....
Audio CDs don't have that info built into them (some CDs have CD Text for car stereos but that system is generally abandoned because it never caught on much).
Computers actually use info like the number of tracks and the length of the tracks to download Metadata from a database on the internet and matches that info to your CD. This system is not 100% reliable because there can be more than one album which matches the same basic data. Sounds like you've run into this problem!
I know on itunes that if there's more than one possible match after inserting a CD, itunes will flash up with a notification asking me to pick from the different artists it could be.
