Police seek link in Craigslist robberies

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. —

DeKalb County police are trying to determine if the robbers who shot and killed a grandfather are connected to another similar robbery.

Police said Clarence Gardenhire was in town from Florida for the birth of his grandson. Police said a family member agreed to meet a man he contacted through Craigslist.com last week to buy some cellphones for his new business in Buckhead.

The family said Gardenhire and the relative showed up on Shadowridge Drive with $375 in cash just before 11 p.m. last Monday.

“We usually don’t do it late at night, but my brother was trying to help me get the business off the ground,” Norman Lopez said.

The family said Gardenhire was asked to come along because he has a gun permit.

Police said the robber pulled a gun on them, and when Gardenhire reached for his weapon, the robber fired five to 10 rounds, killing Gardenhire.

I was thinking about opening a small secured office site just 4 CL transactions.

If I weren't so tied up..............I'd look more into such a venture.

Beasley recently has been sentenced to death.

Here in Toronto, I don't think we've had any Craigslist murders, but we do have the instance of some dude named Eric Alexander meeting a woman through personal ads on the site, then drugging and assaulting her at a hotel.

In Canada most of us use Kijiji, not Craigslist. I've sold and purchased many things and found apartments on it without so much as a little hickup.

I'm not saying that there are not scammers on Kijiji...but I've not really heard anything negative about it.

Canadians love Kijiji.

I'm learning to love Kijiji, too! In the past 2 months or so, I've bought a lemon tree, a Persian rug, a giant urn and a bunch of dried lavender there. I seriously need to get myself under control.

I have a friend who was assaulted last year when she went to someone's home to purchase something from Kijiji.

Best advice is........don't go to anyone's home and don't meet anyone alone.

Canadian from the other side of the country can verify this post. I sold concert tickets on there and met someone at a mall. Couldn't have been smoother.
