'The Grandmaster' Featurette Dives Into the World of Martial Artist Ip Man (Exclusive Video)

Wong Kar Wai's The Grandmaster, opening in theaters in the U.S. on Aug. 23, takes viewers into the life of legendary kung fu master Ip Man, who taught Bruce Lee.

A new featurette, hosted exclusively by The Hollywood Reporter, dives into Ip Man's backstory, his influence on Lee and the new film based on his life.

Shannon Lee, the daughter of Bruce, appears in the video, which also features interviews with actor Keanu Reeves and Tony Leung, who stars as Ip Man in Wong's film.

"It's not fancy. There are no fancy moves. Very direct. And fast -- extremely fast," says Leung of the Wing Chun style of martial arts.

The video also touches on the rumor that fewer than six people were taught by Ip Man, one of whom was Lee.

The Grandmaster, filmed in a range of stunning locations that include the snow-swept landscapes of northeast China and the subtropical south, stars Leung and Zhang Ziyi.
