I did get through a fourth of The Three Musketeers since I realized I've never read it, but I put it aside for a couple of months to push through some series. I'm going back to it.

The first book in the series is "First King of Shannara".

Another series of books he wrote is about the Magical Kingdom of Landover. The first book is "Magic Kingdom For Sale Sold". It's a fun set of books and can even be read to the kids. Seems to appeal to all ages.

I enjoyed The Elves of Cintra and The Gypsy Morph. I should check out the others since I could use some light reading for a while.

It is light reading and getting through the books goes quite fast, but I love the imagination and fantasy of the books. For a little while, I can believe in magic.

You should really check Magic Kingom for Sale Sold. That series was really cute, funny, adventerous. I was just checking and it appears that it may be in the makings of becoming a movie. The premise behind the book was intriguing to me, but I love fantasy novels.

It's a good movie. I have several feel good movies, most of them with Julia Roberts, however. "Runaway Bride", "Pretty Woman". And the other is "Caberet" with Cher. Ya know, it's always the movies where the girl gets the guy or the guy gets the girl. I keep waiting for movies of that nature to actually happen in real life, but alas ...

I love all of Dumas' books. My favorite is probably The Man In The Iron Mask. The film adaptation with Richard Chamberlain was superb.

Sometimes I feel so...uncultured...via the fact that I've read so little (good literature) due to my addiction to Sci-Fi & fantasy.

Another series I've enjoyed has been the Wheel of Time series, by Robert Jordan. It's not "light reading", as each book is probably 1000 pages and there are 12 to 15 books. Unfortunately, the author died before finishing the last 3 books, and another author stepped in and finished the books, based upon Jordan's notes, even chapters he had written of the last 3 books. It still seemed to flow seemlessly with the story line, and characters, but just knowing it wasn't completely Robert Jordan did color my take on the last 3 books. However, I enjoyed that author's writing enough that I looked into a couple of fantasy series that he did. They were pretty good, kept me engaged.

The author was a Citadel graduate and the battle scenes in the book were very detailed and the strategies were incredible. It was a sort of "Christ" story in that one young boy was chosen to be the savior of mankind, and it follows him and his friends on their adventures towards growing up and becoming warriors to defeat evil. That's a very simplified description as there are a lot of complex themes and woven threads throughout the story.

The first book in the series is "The Eye of the World".

I'm almost done, and I'm really enjoying it!

I ordered his collection of short stories (20th Century Ghosts) and the next novel, Horns...

NOS4A2 comes out in paperback on October 15th, so I'll get that then.
