Does anyone actually name their kid "Tammy" anymore?

When I was a kid, I went to school with a ton of girls named "Tammy". But as an adult I can't remember the last time I met anyone named Tammy. Actually, just the sound of the word "Tammy" sounds goofy as hell lol...

So, anyone know if "Tammy" is still a viable naming option or has it run its course?

That's my brother's wife's name. But she's 40, so she wasn't named that recently.

I'm sure it's cyclical. There's nothing wrong with the name "Tammy".

hmmm Interesting -- I don't think I've ever met a Tammy.

LOL Did anyone ever really name their kid Tammy, or was it short for Tamara or the like?

You do get Alistair occasionally, more so amongst posh/upper classes.
I don't think anybody has been names Jeeves in the last 80 years lol

As far as I always knew, it was just Tammy, not short for anything.

Most of the people I've known who are called Tammy (or Tam) are Tamaras.

The popularity of this name in the 60s is connected to the series of "Tammy" movies from that era. Debbie Reynolds played Tammy first (in 1957), then Sandra Dee. There was also a Tammy TV show that ran for a season or two. (I can't remember who was in that.)

All the Tam/mys I know are in the 40-55 age range.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

In my line of work, I see a lot of women and the Tammy/Tamaras I see are definitely in that age range.

People don't give their kids names like Ruby, Bessie, Leroy or Ethel anymore either. Too many people want to be creative and make up weird, exotic names that the average person can't spell or pronounce.

I went to high school with a Tami and a Tammy. I think the latter might have been short for Tamara but the first one was not.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I met several women named Tammy, two were named "Tammy" and not Tamara. All of these women are in their 40's.

I think names go in cycles... don't recall seeing a Socorro, Beulah or a Mildred in a woman under 60.

Edith and Hazel are family names on my mother's side. Thankfully I was blessed with a mother who decided to stop the madness.
