Fired? R u serious. I worked at UPS at an airport hub. To thinkbwe gently set each box down, gently, one at a time is a MASSIVE misconception. Millions of packahes get shipped every day. There simply isnt time, or usally reason, to do that.

Maybe so, but there is a difference between tossing boxes around to get stuff done quickly and just not giving a fuck.

Boxes get walked on, thrown, tossed routinely...that in the gif is no big deal. Nothing happened to the contents ofbthe boxes anyway...unless they were shipping glass and didnt lable it fragile.

Well obviously i dont know for certain. The question is asked of mebthough as if everything inbthkse boxes, without doubt, went to shit. Everyone knows these boxes get t j thrownbaround and abused....it cracks me up when people are all shocked and appauled.

For all who ship: newsflash: your boxes dont get treated like your grandmothers fine china after placed kn the hands ofthe USPS, UPS, or FedEx...and yet, the majority are happy with what they recieve...with exceptions of course. If u dont want that to happen to your packages...drive them there yourself.

Theres no monopoly on shipping, yet UPS and FedEx are not filing for bankruptcy. ..not sure about USPS, but tuats a whole different story. They're doing something right and operate reasonably. Peo p le get the flatscreens in wrking order, cell phones get where they need to be...papers, video games all get to their destinations. If not the merchamdise is replaced.

Maybe that woman know each box is filled with mouse pads cuz that customer is a regular pickup for her? Not every box holds ancient fragile priceless artifacts.

As to behind the scenes process...check a chicken and cow farm...then have dinner...not everything operates like the commercial shows.

Yes and no. Your best bet is to pack it properly. It doesnt typically get worse treatment because of fragile appearing , but its no guarantee nothing will happen. ..we try to be nice...but when a trailer has 3,000+boxes in there...other packages damage packages more th than employees do. Sometimes resentful or immature employees do take frustrations out....as everybody already assumes.

Like i said...i dont know why this stuff is always surprising.

My other browser doesnt show youtube vids all the time, so i just saw this....yeah...that mans a fool.

But as to tossing the boxes, thats about how its done. ..but typically u should do it in a manner that keeps it on the belt.

I would have a loooong conveyor belt that would extend into a trailer operated by a joystick. I'm not climbing down off the stand to gently place a box on the belt. It will get tossed 2-3 feet. The wherehouse belt system can be harder on the boxes than that. Also...walls of boxes are made for safer packing, but keping the weight of hundreds of pounds of boxes on the the bottom boxes...there isn't much that is "genteel" about the world of shipping. The absolute worst time to ship anything is christmas and mothers day.

I have nothing against bag handlers. In fact, I dated one (almost married one). He even jokingly referred to them as bag smashers. I give credit to the ones who do their job well. My point is that I personally witnessed a lot of damage and handled a lot of phone calls from ANGRY customers who's luggage was either lost or damaged from careless handling. I dealt with it on the passenger side as well as the cargo side. You would also have a harder time getting your FedEx packages if not for FedEx delivery people. The ones who do their job properly are terrific. Those who load trucks like they're tossing frisbees is another story.

Maybe frisbees were in that box is my only point. We all know that during christmas time...we can pick up a box, and largely be able to tell if its fragile ot not. Now imagine that ability if practiced full time year 'round. My problem id everybody assumes that lady was just Willy Nilly throwing boxes. If the boxes have tshirts in them....whats the problem.

And sorry about the bag smasher respnse though...i think i caught a sense of elitism that wasnt there or that i put there myself, prolly out of frustration.

Leave the poor lady alone and stop making flamatory accusations of her without knowing all of the variables....thats my creedo here in this threadgnot to tempest personally)...im just trying to defend a person i see operating reasonably after personally having 4 years of experience in the shipping field w/ UPS.

@BobGeorge909

No offense taken. If you knew me, you'd know that I'm a very hard working, honest and down to earth person. Elitism is not on my radar screen. In fact, I loathe it.

Regarding the lady tossing boxes, I think if you were her employer, you would have fired her as well. At least I hope you would. People need to take pride in their work and do it to the best of their ability. Also, it's extremely important to have respect for your employer and your customers. After all, it's because of them that you have food to put on your table.

My guess is that anything fragile or breakable wouldn't have been shipped in those types of boxes. That, plus the way the woman pretty much shotputs the boxes all the way to the back of the truck would indicate that whatever is in the boxes are pretty light. Also--and I have zero way of knowing this--it wouldn't surprise me if places like FedEx separate the larger, fragile packages from the boxes and envelopes that mostly just have papers in them.

Even so, customers have the right to expect their packages to be treated with more respect than is shown in the gif. And it's definitely a black eye in terms of PR for Federal Express. But it's probably not nearly as big a deal as it's being made out to be.
