I would never, ever watch a movie that I thought could end up on the (A) list.

To each his own. I've just never been able to understand how people can place movies that "make them lose their faith in humanity" in the Entertainment category. What the Sam Hill is entertaining about that?

I agree with you somewhat Rodeo...there are movies I won't watch because even the previews upset me too much. I've never seen Schindler's List, Hotel Rwanda, or Amistad. I can't deal with that REAL horror. I watched Roots and was ill. sad

However, I've watched some that I didn't know were so horrible and showed how cruel we can be to one another during the horrors of war...one last night from director Guillermo del Toro called The Devil's Backbone. Kids in an orphanage with ghosts and real human evil. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0256009/

OTOH...if I'm feeling depressed about the state of humankind, I watch...

The Notebook

Finding Forrester
To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar woot!
Simon Birch

The Green Mile
Fried Green Tomatoes
Batteries Not Included

Oh and Now You See Me was a 'feel good' movie for me!!! clapping

I'm curious as to how Crocodile Dundee restored your faith in humanity? lol Don't get me wrong, I love those movies. Just watched part II last night. I guess the good guy winning was enough! thumbs up!

!

the first Crocodile Dundee movie is perhaps THE best "back to basics" (aka, love and nature) movie I've ever seen

Keeping one foot grounded in reality. I take the bad with the good, but it doesn't mean I wallow in it.

"Schindler's List" wasn't that bad, because you knew what was going to happen. I haven't seen "Hotel Rwanda" or "Amistad".

Two movies that didn't make me lose my faith in humanity but did touch a bad nerve were "Saving Private Ryan" and "The War of the Roses".

That part in "Saving Private Ryan" where the German guy fights with the American, finally stabs him to death, and is whispering "Shhhhhh" as he does it just freaked me out.

I hated "The War of the Rose". She tried to KILL him. It was supposed to be "funny" but it wasn't to me. The very end, where they are both about to die and Michael Douglas reaches out to take her hand one last time but she knocks it way just made me want to throw up.

One movie that always made me feel great about my fellow man is Clint Eastwood's "Bronco Billy". After the sheriff screws him over, Eastwood says "No one messes with my cowboy" and that just always made me feel good.

I watched Amistad, it was ok. When watching this movie I just felt like they made this movie to win some Oscars. I think they waited the last possible day to release this movie for the Oscars that year.

I have ZERO faith in humanity.

People are horrible in general.

I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.
