We might be talking about different things, though. American coffee is different from what you guys drink in Europe and elsewhere, I think.

I'm a little coffee with my cream and sugar kind of person so drinking it is completely lost on me. But the smell of a good coffee is completely divine to me, I love it.

Everyone that I have met that drinks it black has to have it freshly brewed.

I put milk in my coffee and therefore can let that pot sit there an hour or so.

Every time I hear a man order some kind of foofy la-la drink at Starbucks, I just disbelief

Effa quiche. No real man orders a skinny peppermint mocha with extra whip. Sweetie gets a chai latte (because he doesn't like coffee) - and even that is pushing it. lol

If I'm having regular coffee, I just add a little cream. No sweetener. And if I'm at a coffee house, I get a decaf latte.

Wait...are we talking about the components in flavored creamers, or additives to ground coffee itself???

I always assumed that ground coffee consisted of JUST that - GROUND COFFEE BEANS.

If not...I'm going to start buying coffee beans and grind them myself!!!

I believe they're referring to actual chemical compounds found naturally occuring in coffee beans. I dont think theyre talkkng abut additives like cigarettes.

This is, of course, assumption with no research of my own. I dont see why a coffe company would spend money adding a roach deterrent to coffee beans.

A lot of work goes into that smell.....over 1000 odor compounds at work. Some natural...some a result of the roasting process. Coffee is very complex....i figured it was, but after checking a bit....ghatdayum!

But...

Those are the type of drinks you do not make at home. I mean isn't a trip to Starbucks the perfect time for anyone to order a dessert drink (which is basically what it is) that has several ingredients and would be a major production and a major mess to clean up, at home?

I think most people can whip up a pot of Starbucks coffee now and drink it black or with cream and sugar at home for a whole lot less.

I feel the same way about food. When people order Spagetti and Meatballs at a restaurant, unless the place makes slamming meatballs, I don't see the point.

If a guy wants that kind of drink, he needs to learn to make it at home. Because I don't want to hear that kind of sissy order in public. hmph!

To be honest, I don't get those kinds of coffee drinks, anyway. If you don't like coffee (and I contend that nobody who orders a coffee with 6 different flavors in it actually likes coffee), why are you drinking it?

If a guy want to order a frou frou drink I could care less. shrug I really don't care what anyone drinks.

I like black coffee if I'm enjoying it with dessert or a pastry of some kind, but I generally add cream and sugar if I have it on it's own. I also love fancy coffee drinks, especially mochas. I have a sweet tooth and have a hard time w/anything bitter (I think I'm on the verge of being a super taster) so I usually want to sweeten it up. I'm also picky about coffee. I don't know lots about it but I know what I like and what I don't. I really can't stand Caribou Coffee. There's something about the taste that just puts me off. I won't even drink it.

All that said, I'm more of a tea drinker. So coffee is only an occasional thing w/me anyway.

I grew up with one of those as a permanent fixture atop the stove.

I must've been 5 when I first gained a taste for Bustelo.

Maybe for the caffeine buzz.

I like mocha flavoring if I buy a coffee out. I love coffee or mocca icecream. They are my favorites. I don't want whip cream etc on my coffee.
