Revisited after many years...

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 4.5/5 Originally all the flying put me off, but now I appreciate so much more about it. I'm still stunned by the choreography of the fight scenes and the music. Wish it ended happier, that somebody ended up happy after all that.

An excellent, exquisite movie, and a couple of the flicks that followed in that wave, Hero and (the gorgeously shot) House of Flying Daggers, are very good as well.

I've seen both of those, they were good and I need to revisit them. Soon.

Just got back from "The Conjuring". Here is how it shakes out:

If you are between the ages of 45 - 65, you have seen this movie 15 times.

If you are between the ages of 35 - 45, you have seen this movie 10 times.

If you are between the ages of 25 - 35, you have seen this movie 7 times.

If you are between the ages of 5 - 25, you have seen this movie 5 times.

That said, it's still pretty entertaining. Even though it's a rehash of every other haunted house movie ever made, it was rehashed with some skill

I give this movie 3 possessed young daughters out of a possible 5 possessed young daughters.

Adventureland (2009)

I haven't seen a better performance from Kristen Stewart. A decent movie with some funny moments, a lot of great 80s music, and loyal to the look and feel of the time. Jesse Eisenberg and Stewart lead a pretty good cast top to bottom, and Ryan Reynolds hits the right notes.

Yeah, it's cliched but also entertaining. I liked it better, but I haven't seen a horror movie in years. Went only because a friend was dying to see it. It was better than I expected.

I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

It was so long, and with so many characters, I think I'll have to watch it again. But upon first viewing, 3/5.

I loved this movie!!! Melissa McCarthy could read the phonebook, however, and I'd bust a gut laughing. I was so glad there were funny bits beyond what was in the trailer.

We watched "16 Candles" last night. I give this movie cakecakecakecakecake out of a possible 5 cake.

What a great movie! It's one of about four movies that make me cry. I am not ashamed to admit that, as the father of a daughter, I tear up every time Samantha mouths "That's the boy!" to her dad as she's leaving the wedding. Heck, I would tear up at that scene even before I had a daughter.

This movie has almost as many great lines as the greatest movie ever made (which is, of course, "Animal House"). It's one of three movies that defined how the 80's would be remembered. The other two are "Valley Girl" and "Fast Times at Ridgemont High".

I'd better hit "Post response" before I start quoting and listing all the incredible moments from "16 Candles".

Welt am Draht (Germany, 19723) - 8/10

"Somewhere in the future there is a computer project called Simulacron one of which is able to simulate a full featured reality, when suddenly project leader Henry Vollmer dies. His successor Dr. Fred Stiller experiences odd phenomena. A good friend, Guenther Lause, disappears in the middle of a conversation and a week later nobody has ever heard of him. And those fits of dizzyness - Stiller cannot believe himself to be fool. There has to be an explanation for all this. Could Simulacron have something to do with it?"
