Rate the last movie you watched

The last thread reached its expiration date, so here's the new thread. And what a way to start!

I hope you're sitting down, because I just saw a movie I liked! No - I saw a movie I LOVED!

[img:$uid]http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LrLbMyo9eC8/UZlxOI044sI/AAAAAAAAACE/nvGnyYQc6IU/s400/now-you-see-me-banner.jpg[/img:$uid]

THIS MOVIE IS AWESOME! I loved every single minute of it!

It's got everything, and I mean EVERYTHING - magic, comedy, action, magic, fights, car chases, a hot French woman, hypnotism, incredible acting, THE FREAKING ILLUMINATI HORUS THING, and plot twists out the wazoo.

This is THE movie to see this summer. How good is this movie?

It's been out three weeks or so, yet the theater last night was PACKED. And when it ended, many people applauded! That just doesn't happen three weeks into a movie's run very often.

Don't walk - RUN AND GO SEE THIS MOVIE!

Out of a possible 10 bunny2-in-a-hat's, I give this movie:

bunny2bunny2bunny2bunny2bunny2bunny2bunny2bunny2bunny2bunny2bunny2bunny2bunny2bunny2bunny2bunny2bunny2bunny2bunny2bunny2

Yesterday I saw the Coen brother's Burn After Reading on tv. It was good. Well, with actors like Malkovich, Clooney, Pitt, what do you expect, sure it's good! But I have to say, for a 90 minute comedy, it crams a few to many actors and storylines into one film, so you don't get the time to get to know the characters. Brad Pitt does a wonderful job as the guy in the gym who wants to get a quick buck, but when he...
!!!
Spoiler alert!!!!
gets shot, you don't really feel for him because you don't really get to know him, or the other characters.
But the Coen brothers are always doung a good job, but with The Big Lebowski they did a GREAT job. Not with Burn After Reading
But still a funny film to see.

There are moments in this movie that are absolutely devastating.

Mirror Mirror (2012) - An evil queen steals control of a kingdom and an exiled princess enlists the help of seven resourceful rebels to win back her birthright.

I can see this appealing to preteen girls, but for me, bleh. star 1/2 (out of five)

And with this turd, my 2013 Oscar nominations list is complete. I've seen eveything. dead

I am curious - how would you rate the accurateness of the Oscar nominating committee? Did they nominate an acceptable slate of films? Or did they do a below-average job?

I thought the selection of films this year was okay. There are always a few omissions I feel are glaring and some nominations that are undeserved.

For example: Chasing Ice was my favorite documentary of the past year and it only got a nomination for best original song. confused

The ABCs of Death - 1.5/5 Horror anthology containing 26 shorts. I really only watched it because I really like Ben Wheatley's stuff these days, and I likely would have turned it off if his contribution hadn't been towards the end (U is for unearthed). Like any anthology, the quality comes and goes. A few were really good, most were forgettable, and a couple were incredibly tasteless, tacky enough for me to drop my rating a few points.

Before Sunrise (1995) - A young man and woman meet on a train in Europe, and wind up spending one romantic evening together in Vienna. Unfortunately, both know that this will probably be their only night together.

What a very charming film. It's fantastic that it's composed entirely of a conversation while walking around Vienna. And it was interesting seeing it now for the first time knowing that the couple reunites for two sequels whereas seeing the movie at the time of the release would have left the viewer wondering--would it have been better not knowing? I'm trying to figure that out. star star star star

Before Sunset (2004) - It's nine years after Jesse and Celine first met; now, they encounter one another on the French leg of Jesse's book tour.

I liked this one just as much as, if not a little more than the previous film as it follows the same formula of talking while strolling around a city, this time Paris. Ethan Hawke was a little more likeable as an older, wiser Jesse and the conversations were much more heartfelt. star star star star

Insiang – 3.5/5 No-budget, grim story about a teenage girl trying to navigate her way through poverty and family issues in a Manila slum. I thought some melodramatic elements undercut it a little, but still a great, unexpected find.

I Will Follow (2011)

Nicely directed, subtle, poignant movie that mainly avoids cliches. Salli Richardson was fantastic. Sure, I could watch her file tax returns, but she gave a great performance.

The Deep Blue Sea (2011)

A remake done with the punch of I Am Love and the unpredictable rhythm of an early Nolan flick. Great ensemble cast, but Rachel Weisz and Tom Hiddleston give their best performances to date (at least for my twocents).

i watched 'A Good Woman'. liked it a lot, very lovely backdrop, absolutely gorgeous set. made me want to be a woman of leisure and drift about wearing floaty dresses, sipping tea on the veranda. plot was a bit twisty, heavy on character development and mindset, rather drowsy when it came to action scenes. as in, none really, not a single car chase or explosion. well paced, sultry feeling of i have all day and then some. cool characters you get to know quite well. nicely done. starstarstarstarstar

Before Midnight (2013) - We meet Jesse and Celine nine years on in Greece. Almost two decades have passed since their first meeting on that train bound for Vienna.

This was the best of the trilogy. The audience finally sees the low times in Jesse and Celine's, up until now, very romantic relationship. star star star star

Oh, it was a thief, all right. It stole two hours of my time.

Stupid movie. I give it -0- stars out of how ever many stars you want.

A biopic of French pop star Claude Francois, most famous for co-writing the song 'My Way'. Tracing his life from his childhood in Egypt through his success in France to his untimely death in Paris in 1978. sad thumbs up! ....if you enjoy French movies then this is definitely worth watching!

This was also the last move I watched. I agree with you. Surprisingly good. I'm not generally into dumb action blockbusters, but this is a really well-done action blockbuster that is just fun to watch in a movie theater, with friends, with popcorn, it's a blast.
