Fortune Cookies: Yay Or Nay?

[img:$uid]http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?id=H.4563807548606836&pid=1.7&w=247&h=180&c=7&rs=1[/img:$uid]

Fortune cookies get a big "yay" from me; I love them! I love the crunchiness and the vanilla flavor. What's funny is, I don't even read the message that's inside of the cookie. I'm more interested in eating the cookie itself. I'm not of Asian descent, but I love these cookies. Once I start eating them, I just can't stop. drool drool

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I always eat one after a Chinese meal and I read the fortune. Outside of that I don't eat them.

They're pretty awful eating, but I always open them for the fortune.

Proper fortune procedure: You must read the fortune aloud, adding the words "in bed" at the end.

I have had very few fortune cookies that taked like anything memerable. The taste reminds me of Communion hosts that Catholic Priest pass out. (I do read my fortuen religiously.)

There is one place in Minneapolis that makes a fortune cookie I really, really like. Otherwise I eat them mainly for the fortune, they're pretty meh.

I have a ritual about them also. I always let others I'm dining with choose their cookies first (so I get the last cookie). Then I unwrap it and try to pull out the fortune without breaking the cookie. If I must I break the cookie open and then I don't look at the fortune until I've eaten the entire cookie.

Is that how they did it at the Nankin? wink

A good fortune is hard to come by. They're too often stupid advice. But I do love fortune cookies.

We used to do that at work...we'd order Chinese food and then everyone would have to read their fortunes out loud with "in bed" at the end. It was hilarious, trust me.

Considering that the fortune cookie is an American invention...you're good on that.

I agree, BUT, last year in the middle of my breakup ordeal when I was all shmoopy and bombarding the org with my whinny threads, I got THIS fortune;

PEACE COMES FROM WITHIN. SEEK IT FROM YOURSELF.

It was so apropos. I've been carrying it around in my wallet all this time. nod

hmmm ...I just realized that I never played my "lucky numbers" .
