Have any of you ever dated outside of your ethnicity, "race," religion, etc.? Why or why not? And what have been your experiences attached to this?

The religion issue hasn't really been a problem between us, but it has caused some trouble from other people. Two examples that come to mind:

1) Her minister would not perform any other wedding ceremony than the "official" United Methodist wedding ceremony, which would have required me to (more or less) publicly declare myself to be a Christian. I wasn't going to do that because it's not the truth.

Ultimately we were married by a deputy court clerk in a secular ceremony, which we held in a public garden.

2) On the whole, her family has not been very accepting of my religion (or lack thereof).

Yes. Race and religion many times. It has never been an issue. I think people are interesting - I have dated boys from a Hindu Indian-Indonesian to a Christian Caucasian.

i have dated 2 greek aussie girls and 1 chinese aussie girl.

my girlfriend is an american of germanic/english background...i like the way she looks a great deal, but i have no preference for race really...they just have to be pretty, funny, intelligent and nice.

Mostly just women of color. It's not that I have anything against white women, I am just more attracted to women of color.

I have never met or indeed seen a blonde haired woman that I was attracted to. While I can accept they can be beautiful, I just seem unable to find them sexy.

Don't know why that is.

Got to have golden skin. Got to be small. Got to be Thai.

Well, I've only ever dated Japanese women, all my girlfriends throughout my life (a long, depressing trail of broken hearts and bitterness haha) have been Japanese and my wife is too. Clearly, I do have a preference there... but I do like other kinds of women too of course. All sorts are cool really... I've seen plenty of beautiful white women, and black women, and every other shade that could turn my head in an instant

The only thing is I do prefer dating women from a different cultural background to myself... don't get me wrong, Irish women are brilliant, really great... but I find that cross-cultural dating is nice because you can't form too many assumptions about each other, and you have to get to know each other properly based on what they seem to be, rather than what you think they might be like.

You know the way... dating someone from your hometown means that person might immediately from the first meeting have lots of preconceived notions of who you are, where you're from, what you are like, what you earn etc... it is liberating to avoid all that bullshit and get to know someone properly.
