Do you all pretty much agree with me, or what? hmmm

uh...no... lol

I love cilantro and have a big pot of it growing in my kitchen window. I love the smell when it gets on your hands. It's addicting. I love anything lemon or lime. Key lime pie is my fave. I eat lemons alone. I liked root beer floats when I was younger. Not anymore because I don't touch any type of soda. I love tuna. Beets I CAN eat but rarely do. Something about the taste. I don't know. Maybe because my mom forced me to eat them as a child until I threw up. shrug neutral

I am the only one in my entire family who loves black licorice. They always pick the black Jelly Bellys out and give them to me. Mmmmmmmm... love

But I can't eat it as much anymore. sad I'm over 40 and it appears if you're over that age it's not good to eat a lot of it. Licorice is a low-growing shrub mostly grown for commercial use in Greece, Turkey, and Asia. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) says the plant’s root has a long history of use as a folk or traditional remedy in both Eastern and Western medicine. It has been used as a treatment for heartburn, stomach ulcers, bronchitis, sore throat, and cough. Now they say you can actually overdose on it and it can cause arrhythmia.

Black licorice contains glycyrrhizin...the sweetening compound derived from licorice root. Glycyrrhizin can cause potassium levels in the body to fall. When that happens, some people experience abnormal heart rhythms, as well as high blood pressure, edema (swelling), lethargy, and congestive heart failure. Of course this is the FDA warning against it so I don't know how much faith I'm going to put into their advice. confused

Id say its crap because I just ate an assload the other day, im 45 and still here!! lol

But I have heard this as well because they told my dad who had CHF, and a ton of other health problems you mentioned, and had a pacemaker, not to eat it

Oh, and he was on dialysis which depleted his potassium levels anyway, which in turn helped create his heart problems.. sad

geez, on that sad note... lol

I love all kinds of licorice!! Allsorts are my FAVE!

Sorry about your dad... sad

Yeah, the FDA is pretty much bought and paid for by corporate interests. So I don't put much stock in their warnings because the advice following usually involves some pharm company's new miracle pill. rolleyes

Actually, there is a genetic reason for certain people to hate cilantro...to some it tastes like "soap" apparently.

I used to hate avocado. It grossed me out.
But I loved guacamole and the more guacamole I ate, the more I was able to stomach plain avocados.

So now I can eat them.

I was a really picky eater as a kid. Now my taste buds have matured and I can eat almost anything (except onions & green peppers).

HOWEVER...when it comes to popular foods that I can't stand;

Pumpkin Pie
Black licorice
lemon cake/cookies/pie
chocolate ice cream (I mean chocolate flavored ice cream)
barf

Now chocolate technically doesn't belong on this list but I'd say the exception are plain chocolate bars. I won't touch them, with caramel maybe, with nuts definitely, but plain never. Even those big ole solid chocolate bunnies we'd get on Easter as a kid I wouldn't touch only the hollow ones because the chocolate was very thin layered made a very pleasant melting sensation on the tongue.
.
.
Ice cream with candy in it, no like, no eat, especially with those big hard chunks of overly sweet chocolate or fudge brownie, that's just gross and ruins the whole experience. Chocolate chip with those very fine flakes of chocolate bittersweet especially is wonderful. Fruit, nuts, a little swirl or plain is perfect.
.
Oh and ham. I finding with every passing year ham has become completely unappealing, I cook it for family and they can have it. I think it's the type of ham I'm getting more exposed to,.

I've never liked coffee.

I never have either. People are shocked when I tell them that. They're like, "You DON'T like coffee????", like it's a sin or something. lol lol I will have coffee when I go out to brunch with my parents; but that's about it. I don't own a coffee pot, and I don't go to Starbucks to buy a coffee. My dad, on the other hand, LOVES coffee. He drinks it 24/7. I think if there was a way for him to get intravenously fed coffee whenever he wanted it, he would do it. lol lol

Reminds me of this asshole I dated a while back. He didn't drink coffee, but I do. He would insist that I drink some old ass concoction called "Postum." It's a "coffee alternative" made from wheat germ and molasses. I finally kicked his ass to the curb and resumed drinking my regular cuppa joe.

But to answer the question at hand, I will not eat brussel sprouts. I will eat just about anything, but I can't stand those little bastids. They look like cute little cabbages, but they just tast nasty to me. Give me asparagus any day!

I can eat eggs ANYWAY you can think of cooking them...BUT... if they are at all browned forget it! totally changes the flavor!

I like to cook a fried egg until it's just a little brown on the edges. Gives it a nice crunch.
