I made a pretty good pumpkin lasagna with mushrooms for Christmas, used prepackaged sliced portobellos, though. Did Zombie just pass out?
Most places here (except Aldi) have them loose which you scoop into a paper bag to take home. They last longer and don't go slimy in a paper bag. I need to get some tomorrow drool

I always take them out of the package when I get home and put them in paper. wink

Jelly beans. Licorice (sp)

Otherwise, I'm willing to try different feuds, lol.

I like to cook and eat.

I am the only one in my entire family who loves black licorice. They always pick the black Jelly Bellys out and give them to me. Mmmmmmmm... love

But I can't eat it as much anymore. sad I'm over 40 and it appears if you're over that age it's not good to eat a lot of it. Licorice is a low-growing shrub mostly grown for commercial use in Greece, Turkey, and Asia. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) says the plant’s root has a long history of use as a folk or traditional remedy in both Eastern and Western medicine. It has been used as a treatment for heartburn, stomach ulcers, bronchitis, sore throat, and cough. Now they say you can actually overdose on it and it can cause arrhythmia.

Black licorice contains glycyrrhizin...the sweetening compound derived from licorice root. Glycyrrhizin can cause potassium levels in the body to fall. When that happens, some people experience abnormal heart rhythms, as well as high blood pressure, edema (swelling), lethargy, and congestive heart failure. Of course this is the FDA warning against it so I don't know how much faith I'm going to put into their advice. confused

Being vegetarian I don't eat meat, ao anything of that variety would be silly to mention.

That said, the only thing I can think of I don't like is raw tomatoes. There's just something about them that don't work for me. I'm much better that I used to be in that I can tolerate them now if there is enough other stuff going on, like bruschetta, most salsas (except pico de gallo), on a sandwich, etc. but if I start out with it, I may pull it off or out of whatever I'm eating before it's gone.

Id say its crap because I just ate an assload the other day, im 45 and still here!! lol

But I have heard this as well because they told my dad who had CHF, and a ton of other health problems you mentioned, and had a pacemaker, not to eat it

Oh, and he was on dialysis which depleted his potassium levels anyway, which in turn helped create his heart problems.. sad

geez, on that sad note... lol

I love all kinds of licorice!! Allsorts are my FAVE!

I'm not a big fan of tomatoes either, generally, but I've had some heirloom or ones straight out of the garden that I actually did like.

Cheap Asian food is a waste of money, I agree. It's often just stuff straight out of cans thrown together in a fairly random ways in order appeal "ethnic" or "exotic". You could do it just as quickly yourself and it'd probably taste better.

That's a good point. I love going to farmer's markets; the food is grown locally. So, of course, the food is very fresh. smile

I can totally relate. nod

I'm also not a big fan of iceberg lettuce. It's just weird. And people assume that because I'm vegan, I survive on salads, but I can't stand salads for the most part. disbelief
