i know Daniel Day-Lewis is one of the sickest actors ever, but seriously his role in Lincoln ain't as hard as Freddie Quell played by Joaquin Phoenix in The Master... i been flabbergasted for like 30 minutes after i finished the film... Joaquin killed that shit.

So i believe Joaquind deserved an oscar for his work, but obviously he dissed the academy calling the oscars "total utter bulshit"... It made sense for a while lol.

it was a career high as performances go, but the movie itself was not my cup of tea, and i am a huge PT anderson fan. i really felt like it was the least of his movies, despite masterful performances. it was all over the place, rather self-indulgent in the writing, and a somewhat superficial story. i wanted to like it so mch more than i did.

just my opinion.

although i agree that he deserved the oscar over daniel. i would have voted for joaquin were i an academy member

I've loved watching Joaquin on screen since I saw him in "Gladiator". I honestly felt Joaquin should had received his Oscar way back when he played Johnny Cash in "Walk the Line". I haven't seen "The Master" yet, but since running into this thread, I'm thinking that I should.

I felt the same way after watching The Master in the theater.

He got all weird and batshit crazy. It's going to be a while before anyone likes him enough to give him an Oscar.

I think he'll make his way to decade-end performances list..
