Well, I've only ever dated Japanese women, all my girlfriends throughout my life (a long, depressing trail of broken hearts and bitterness haha) have been Japanese and my wife is too. Clearly, I do have a preference there... but I do like other kinds of women too of course. All sorts are cool really... I've seen plenty of beautiful white women, and black women, and every other shade that could turn my head in an instant 
The only thing is I do prefer dating women from a different cultural background to myself... don't get me wrong, Irish women are brilliant, really great... but I find that cross-cultural dating is nice because you can't form too many assumptions about each other, and you have to get to know each other properly based on what they seem to be, rather than what you think they might be like. You know the way... dating someone from your hometown means that person might immediately from the first meeting have lots of preconceived notions of who you are, where you're from, what you are like, what you earn etc... it is liberating to avoid all that bullshit and get to know someone properly. ok, so you find women who aren't Japanese attractive but would you or have you ever considered forming a romantic relationship with a woman who wasn't Japanese? | |

Don't get me wrong... there are downsides to international marriages too... although I speak decent enough Japanese, the language barrier can be a problem at times. Visa issues, immigration hassles at airports, all that crap can be a real pain in the arse. My wife's English isn't great, so she isn't really very employable (which is fine with me, but if we were in Japan she'd probably be happier..,). If our marriage fell apart and I found myself single again, I'd definitely consider dating someone who is a native speaker of English The main reason is that we could both live and work happily in the same country without either of us feeling lonely or isolated or whatever, and we wouldn't get frustrated when we couldn't make ourselves understood sometimes etc because of language or cultural barriers. | |
