Movie The Purge One night a year nothing is illegal.  In an America wracked by crime and overcrowded prisons, the government has sanctioned an annual 12-hour period in which any and all criminal activity-including murder-becomes legal. The police can't be called. Hospitals suspend help. It's one night when the citizenry regulates itself without thought of punishment. On this night plagued by violence and an epidemic of crime, one family wrestles with the decision of who they will become when a stranger comes knocking. When an intruder breaks into James Sandin's (Ethan Hawke) gated community during the yearly lockdown, he begins a sequence of events that threatens to tear a family apart. I don't know how much disbelief you would have to suspend. I mean in the Hunger Games people willing sent their children off to kill each for other's entertainment to maintain peace. If the mentality changes, I think a lot of things are possible. . . Finally, saw the trailer, I think I see what they're getting at, I just think it may be too uncomfortable of a premise for people to absorb. | |

When I saw the trailer versus just reading the premise I saw that it basically turned into a home invasion lets kill everybody thing, a cheap thriller. A lot of review say it fell short of really developing a story. | |
