OMG! I was just about to start a thread on learning to drive as an adult. I just got my permit 2 weeks ago and have had 2 lessons so far. The first one a week ago was dreadful. I had a panic attack and could barely do anything. Today I tried a different instructor and he was the bomb! He made me feel so at ease and I did massively better today. I have a long way to go because I don't have the confidence and coordination together yet but I feel like maybe one day I can do this. I'm a dance instructor and consider myself to be really coordinated in general but this is a different set of coordination skills I just don't have yet. I seem to have a fear of putting my foot on the gas in general but I'm working on it. One day at a time. Maybe in 6 months I can finally do this. I think having the right instructor makes a world of a difference.

Nope.

I also JUST got mine. I am supposed to go and take the driving test in a week.

I have been driving without one for a little while though, so I have some practice under my belt.

Seriously, guys.....If I can drive anyone can. I am terrified!! I never thought I could do this but I'm trying to conquer this fear. I see people driving everyday and some of them are dumb as hell. So why can't I?? I'm feeling the fear and doing and doing it anyway. If I do this, this will be my biggest accomplishment ever.

Hang in there and keep at it. That's what I'm doing. I did a lesson 2 weeks ago and did horrible. Today I tried a different instructor and improved. I'm no where near ready but Iwas amazed at the progression in a short amount of time. The coordination aspect is what gets me too but I'm hoping time and practice will help. I'm not rushing myself but i'm determined to give it my all. If I could start driving in the next 6 months just to work and to get groceries I would be so happy.
