On this week's episode of "Real Time," Bill Maher used his final "New Rule" of the night to take on Libertarianism and the conservatives whose obsessions with Ayn Rand have "ruined" the political philosophy for him.

Once a supporter of Libertarianism and its views on government intervention, Maher explained why he thinks politicians such as Paul Ryan and Rand Paul are "intellectually stuck in their teen years" and have turned a once promising movement into a free market-obsessed, "nanny state"-fearing delusion.

Maher went on to defend his new views on Libertarianism by mocking the party's tendency to reject government services even when they are arguably very useful:

"To everyone who keeps trying to shame me about abandoning my Libertarian moorings, my message is this: I didn't go nuts, this movement did. Like when you see a stop light, your reaction should be 'Great, an easy way to ensure we don't all crash into each other,' not, 'How dare the government tell me when I can and cannot go!"

All that does is prove that Bill Maher has no idea what libertarianism really is. He's like religious people who want to pick and choose the parts of a particular faith that appeal to them - and toss the rest.

Okay; so he has no idea what libertarianism really is.

^ Libertarians have been traditionally fiscally conservative as far as small government and socially liberal especially due to civil liberties and the freedom of speech. But Maher picked Obama. I don't think Maher would've picked Barack if he was so much a libertarian. Unless there was something in his voting past I didn't pick up.

This all boils down to stereotyping. Brady did not say he wants to beat down Maher per se. He's saying that if he fed into Maher's stereotypical image of a black man, then he can beat his ass, and for Maher to have two black girlfriends that are questionable , that doesn't give him a pass.

That's exactly the point I think he's making. It's old news but the interviewer is the one who brought it up again.

I DVR HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher and he's awesome. He's made at least 2 Wayne "Fake Black Man" jokes...Bill only dates Black women & Wayne has only been seen with White women. Bill's last girlfriend was the Black Chick that wrote that Video Vixen book or something about Brothas in the Industry that are on the Down low. They are both Odd-balls and even though they're not my Favorite Stand-up Comics I do think they're Great Entertainers.

I totally agree except for the Dennis Miller part cuz I cannot stand him. I still remember his distastrous stint on Monday Night Football. Whoever thought that was a good idea should have been horsewhipped...

HBO is as Liberal as a Premium Network can get but for some reason they gave Dennis Miller a Chance in the 90's...Maybe he knew somebody @ HBO or something. Stand-Up Specials are the Main series HBO prides itself in so maybe The Liberal Honchos simply Loved his Comedy and felt he needed a show...To go from Dennis to Bill Maher is a BIG Leap....
