Home health care should be more affordable.
.
It has been found that extended stays in hospitals are not good. Increased risk of hospital acquired infection. Increased risked of medical mistakes etc.
.
Recovery should happen at home, but that is incredibly stressful also. Family members having no medical experience taking 24/7 care of their loved one while still having to contend with the demands of life, like maintaining a full time job, cooking, cleaning, taking care of children.

clapping been saying this for years. in fact, due to the difficulty in simply even resting in a hospital environment, i'm almost glad that medical doctors are requiring more 'same day' surgeries and 'outpatient' surgeries. which means no stay in the hospital overnight.

once when i had surgery, the lady in the bed next to me died. i kid you not i awoke in the iddle of the night to the sound of the crash cart being wheeled into the room, lights went on bang! and a team began working on her.

i asked what was happening and a nurse gave me something in my IV so i went to sleep, fast. next day, empty bed, all fresh and white, sooooo weird. i almost preferred the other time i shared a room with a lady who was up moaning with pain all night or watching really loud TV. at least i knew she was alive. i will never understand why recovering patients have to share rooms with strangers. my god...

and about the food? there should be recovery homes where a person can really heal. the hospital is NOT a place for healing, imo. gah

The last time I was hospitalized the poor old lady next to me kept gagging all day! Ewww. I literally went to the desk and paid cash to be upgraded to a private room. Thankfully it was only for one night because it was 175 bucks.

When I was hospitalized to have abdominal surgery about 11 years back, the lady who I shared a hospital room with was moaning and making all kinds of noise. It really bugged me, so I asked a male nurse if I could PLEASE switch rooms so that I didn't have to listen to that nonsense anymore. I wound up getting a room all by myself and I LOVED it. I don't think they charged me extra for it, either. It saved my sanity. There's nothing worse than having to share a room with a noisy person.

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I'm sorry you had to go through all of that, NDRU. It sounded like pure torture! Glad you're on the mend now.

I went to see my surgeon yesterday. He said I am healing nicely. But he said he was shocked at the condition of my appendix after just one day of symptoms. He said there was gangrene in there and all kinds of mess that should not have been there yet.

I was lucky to get there when I did.

But I have been back to the doctor for other complications related to this. Nothing serious, but when your body is compromised, other bugs seem to want to invade!

I never appreciated health as much as I plan to...hopefully soon!

WOW! Glad you are doing much better, especially with something that could have turned so badly.

Sounds like you got there just in time. Take care of yourself, bro.
