Great fight though I agreed with Tyson about Holyfield constantly headbutting him. They shouldn't have had that remake, least a remake that quickly.
I know! that remake happend way too fast they should have let it boiled over even more.
But this fight is just amazing... these are 2 huge guys and they just go pound for pound on this and i know they both were huring for week's after this shit

Tyson knew what he was getting into when he stepped in the ring with Evander, he knew Evander used his head often in clinches, in-fighting, and didn't do anything to stop it. They had to do the rematch right away because the first fight was six years late due to Mike going to jail and it was the biggest money fight to be made at that point. The promoters couldn't risk either guy taking a loss against another opponent before they cashed out on these two fighting each other again.
Mike himself would agree. He said the last time he was seen as a decent fighter was when he was with the Catskill Connection. After he got with Don King, his career as a boxer fell apart.
He bit that ear, because he wanted out and knew Holyfield had his number
Mike may not had been a clean fighter, but neither was Holyfield. Headbutting isn't boxing...it was a strategy to beat Tyson who could have put him away early. Tyson wasn't even in his prime when he fought Holyfield. The only thing Holyfield had over Tyson was strategy. Out of frustration, Holyfield ended up leaving the fight with half an ear. If there was no headbutting, there wouldn't had been no ear biting and Tyson would have beat Holyfield in his sleep. End of story.

I agree with that too. Holyfield actually used a lot of headbutting in his fights and got away with it.

1990 was too late. Mike couldn't handle his success. If it wasn't Buster some other hungrier fighter would've taken him out. When he was still up and coming was when Mike was great. Holyfield would've got hurt by that Mike. He might've lost to Mike when they actually did fight were it not for the headbutts. Like somebody said, that's not boxing, but if the ref lets it go you've gotta adjust. Mike couldn't do that so he got desperate and bit the ear-- which incidentally wouldn't have happened if Evander was boxing at the time.

Bingo! This eventually happens to all bad-assess... whether he's the street corner bully or the prize winning fighter in the ring. Years prior Tyson probably would've measured Holyfield up and knocked him out, end of head butting. Tyson made up an excuse to get up out of there hell, that's worse. As far as Tyson struggles outside of the ring that's neither here or there; when step onto a court, a field, or ring you've made a decision to compete no excuses. Buster and Holyfield once fought Tyson and they kicked ass.

Was Hollyfield even a heavyweight at that time? I know he was cruiserweight champ when Mike was kicking ass in the late 80s.
