What Thing's Should I Do While I'm Young?

More specifically in the summer?

Here is the deal i am 22
I am in the best shape of my life
I am working hard night and day...

And i want to enjoy being young and what to experiment with life a bit!

Last summer was great but this summer i need to live even more! so what does everyone reccomend?

Pool parties? drinking by the beach or going to the beach at night with friend's? Going on a random road trip? go to themed parties? read a new book?

Idk give me ideas for some fun and exciting thing's to do for summer! smile cool

I am 51 and I can tell you what I would do differently.

People are eager to help young folks that are bright or at least give them a chance.

I would have traveled more and stayed in youth hostels.

I would have absolutely learned a second and a third language. LEARN SPANISH

Lived by the motto "it is better to be disliked for who you are then liked for who you think other people want you to be".

Start saving at least a little bit. I don't know how your relationship is with your family and such( would they help you out of a bind) but I stayed in situations far too long because I didn't have the money to walk out.

I don't think anyone I have ever met anyone who regrets traveling.

I also think that it is silly to get in a monogamous relationship at that age that is suppose to last for a lifetime. I have met quite a few people that regret getting tied down to one person at your age.

Definitly do plenty of LSD.

As a fellow gay the only piece of advice I would offer is

Always, no matter what you want to experience, take a moment to remember to be streetsmart, safe and resectful to yourself and the people you are bout to experience your youth with and then enjoy.

Oh and never dance to that damn talentless whore, but its okay to dance your balls off to this.

N when you have your drunk one nighters, next time you see them out dont ignore them. Its kinda tacky.

Have fun! You have your whole damn life to "work hard". Enjoy yourself while you're still young and responsibility-free enough to do it.

Find out what you like to do, what your values are and what kind of purposes are important to you.

You find that out by trying out a lot of different things.

And failing a lot.

And succeeding a lot.

Have fun.

And don't be upset when life sometimes hurts.

That's part of it.

Both good times and bad times alternate.

Start saving for retirement.

I hope with all this traveling, partying and living it up you have a VERY well paying job with a boss who lets you take all the time off you need for having fun...

You definitely don't need a VERY well paying job to have fun and enjoy yourself. Money isn't everything, that's for darn sure.

This is the best advice on this thread.

Start with saving at least 50$ a month already.

And top that up if you can.

You will thank yourself for doing that later in life.

I lived hand to mouth for a lot of my 20s. But if I'd been a little smarter, I could've eked out at least a little something to put into a retirement fund - and had a lot more banked now.

I'm saving like crazy now, but I'll probably never be able to retire completely.

1. That job, house, and kayak that you love so much? That shit doesn't make you happy.

2. Also, use sunscreen every day, and make sure you moisturize.

3. Those Thai guys you like so much? They will cheat on you. Simply enjoy them for what they are--cute little pets that will never be properly house trained. Love yourself above all.

4. Live outside the country for a couple of years---it doesn't matter where, but just do it. With your skills, I'm thinking Singapore would be an easy place to work and get a visa--not to mention it's one of the most modern cities I've ever been to.

5. Always play safe, always wear a condom, and it's ok not to constantly be looking for sex--the sex is like the job, house, and kayak--completely meaningless in the end.

6. You don't need a car--especially in L.A. Get a bike, an e-bike, or a motorbike.

7. Stop going out so often, put some of that money away, and use the rest to travel. I can't remember where I read it, but I love the saying that 'Nobody ever dies regreting that he didn't own more things."

Yes. I have to make a retirement plan myself.

So often that I regret that i did not start saving when I was young.

My parents thought me that having savings means you are a free person.

Because than you don't need to endure hardships of a boss or partner.

I've moved to a smaller house, so I'm not a slave to my own mortgage.

My EX also warned me to not go stay at a young gay guys house in Thailand cause they willw ant favors hmmm i figured he meant sex at first.. but he told me like ''life'' favors eek

I have to agree with the retirement thing even though you don't really want to hear it when you're 22. Time is your biggest factor on your side and it goes by so quickly. I read in one of Suze Ormans books Young Fabulous and Broke that if you invest $500 a month for 10 years between the age of 25 and 35 and stop, it will be a million bucks by the time your 65 whereas if you start saving $500 a month from the age of 35 and do it every year until your 65 you'll have under 400k. Not to bum out those of us who are over 35 or anything neutral

Don't spend your money on a bunch of useless shit or piss it against the wall. Along with your health, financial security is one of the best gifts you could give yourself when you're older.

tell that to the bank that owns the car, the landlord for the rent, cable, electricity, gas, gas for car, groceries, insurances, ETC...

Not saying you need tons of money, but like it or not, YOU NEED IT!

I'm young as well to. I'm 25. It kinda irks me when we those this thing we were kinda show off our age. I mean, you should do what you want to do. I feel we are in control of our destiny and we should everything we want to do.

That being said. I am also jealous, of those who are in more control of their life. Currently, i am not in control of mines. I have to hide a thing of me on the basis of not dissapoint my parents and also i lack that special thing that gets peope attracted to me. it gets kinda scary because i haven't done those things are expected of me such as move out, have a relationship, fallen in love, driven a car, etc.

i don't know , have fun!
