Eastern Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 3

New York Knicks 90 Boston Celtics 76

The Boston Celtics were playing their first home game since the tragic bombing at the Boston Marathon, and during pregame ceremonies emotions were riding high among the Boston faithful. But it was New York that came out with fire and passion, as they took control of the game early and never let up. Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 26 points, but it was Raymond Felton who played a monster game with 15 points and 10 assists. J.R. Smith scored 15 points before being ejected from the game in the fourth quarter after throwing an elbow in the face of Boston guard Jason Terry. Jeff Green led the Celtics in scoring with 21 points while Paul Pierce added 17 points and Kevin Garnett added 12 points and 17 rebounds, yet the Celtics never seemed to be in sync during the game. They now find themsleves in a huge hole, with the possibility that the next game could very well be the last game for Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce in Celtic uniforms.

New York leads series 3-0.

Western Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 3

San Antonio Spurs 120 Los Angeles Lakers 89

This game wasn't even close from the beginning, as the Lakers were playing severely short-handed without Steve Nash, Jody Meeks, and of course Kobe Bryant. The Spurs got off to an early lead and cruised the rest of the way, with Tom Duncan scoring 26 points and Tony Parker scoring 20 points on seven assists. Dwight Howard led the Lakers with 25 points and 11 rebounds while Pau Gasol had a triple double with 11 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists, but their remaining players were no match for San Antonio.

San Antonio leads series 3-0.

Western Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 3

Denver Nuggets 108 Golden State Warriors 110

In what has to be the wildest game of the entire NBA playoffs, the Golden State Warriors and Denver Nuggets went back and forth with high powered offense, with Denver going on a huge run in the second quarter only to have Golden State storm back in the third thanks to Stephen Curry, who scored 29 points with six rebounds and 11 assists, and Jarrett Jack who added 23 points. Carl Landry and Harrison Barnes each added 19 points for the Warriors. Menawhile, Ty Lawson was on fire for the Nuggets, scoring 36 points and dishing out 10 assists, while Corey Brewer added 16 points off the bench, Kenneth Faried added 15 points, and Andre Igoudala added 14 points.

But in the end it came down once again to the buzzer, as Denver pulled to within one point on a Wilson Chandler 3 pont shot, at which point Golden State turned the ball over on a five second violation. But Denver could not capitalize, as Ty Lawson lost control of the ball and dribbled it out of bounds. The Nuggets had one more chance to win the game at the buzzer on a desperation 3 point shot attempt by Andre Igoudala, but the ball bounced off the rim to secure the Warriors victory.

Golden State leads series 2-1.

Eastern Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 4

Brooklyn Nets 134 Chicago Bulls 142 F/3OT

What an unbelievable game! It looked grim for the Bulls near the end of the fourth quarter as Brooklyn led by 14 points with just about three minutes left when Nate Robinson came into the game for Chicago and put on a performance worthy of vintage Derrick Rose or Michael Jordan. He brought the Bulls all the way back with just 26 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, and he would finish with 34 points including 23 in the pivotal fourth quarter before eventually fouling out in the second overtime. Robinson would hit a key jumper off the glass with just two seconds remaining in the first overtime, but Joe Johnson would hit a game tying jumper at the buzzer.

In the end though, it would be the Bulls who would outlast the Nets. Kirk Hinrich, Carlos Boozer, and Joakim Noah all played huge roles for Chicago, and it was Nazr Muhammad who would grab a huge rebound off a Carlos Boozer free throw attempt that led to an easy layup and foul that would seal the victory for the Bulls. Hinrich had 18 points and 14 assists for the Bulls while Carlos Boozer added 21 points and eight rebounds, Joakim Noah added 15 points and 13 rebounds, and Luol Deng added 15 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Derren Williams led the Nets with 32 points and 10 assists but was held in check for the late minutes of the fourth quarter and overtime periods. Brook Lopez added 26 points and 11 rebounds while Joe Johnson added 22 points. But the Bulls now take a commanding lead in the series back to Brooklyn.

Chicago leads series 3-1. woot! excited highfive whew faint

Western Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 4

Los Angeles Clippers 83 Memphis Grizzlies 104

The Grizzlies took advantage of their size down low and went on a run beginning late in the third quarter that pulled Memphis away from the Los Angeles Clippers. Marc Gasol led the charge for the Grizzlies, scoring 24 points and grabbing 13 rebounds, while Zach Randolph also scored 24 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Mike Conley Jr. added 15 points while dishing out 13 assists, and Tayshaun Prince added 15 points for Memphis. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin each led the Clippers with 19 points, but they only managed two points from the rest of their starting lineup.

Series tied at 2-2.

Eastern Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 3

Indiana Pacers 69 Atlanta Hawks 90

The Pacers have played like one of the strongest, most physical teams in the NBA this season, yet Philips Arena has been a personal house of horror for them lately, as they have lost their last nine games in that building coming into tonight's game. Tonight proved to be no exception, as the Hawks stormed out to a commanding early lead and cruised to victory. Atlanta coach Larry Drew started the little-used Johan Petro at center in hopes of cutting into the Pacers' size advantage, a move that had a ripple effect on teammates Al Horford and Josh Smith, providing more favorable defensive matchups all along the front line. It didn't turn out matter as much tonight, as the Hawks scored early while the Pacers looked flat and out of sync. Al Horford led the Hawks with 26 points and 16 rebounds while Josh Smith added 14 points with six rebounds, six assists, and three steals. David West led the Pacers with 18 points, and Paul George added 16 points and nine rebounds.

Indiana leads series 2-1.

Western Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 3

Oklahoma City Thunder 104 Houston Rockets 101

With Russell Westbrook out for the rest of the season, some wondered whether Oklahoma City can possibly make it to the NBA Finals. While that question remains to be answered, they came storming out of the gate, leading the Rockets by as much as 26 points in the second quarter. Kevin Durant was on fire, eventually scoring 41 points for the game, while Russell Westbrook's replacement at point guard, Reggie Jackson, scored 14 points and Derek Fisher scored nine points off the bench.

But Houston would blast their way back into the game, thanks to James Harden's 30 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, Chandler Parsons, who scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and the 3 point shooting of Francisco Garcia and Carlos Delfino. The Rockets took the lead with a huge three point shot with just 44 seconds left in the game, but it was Kevin Durant's 3 pointer on the other end that sealed the victory for OKC. In addition, James Harden turned the ball over three times in the final two minutes. Now OKC is on the verge of weeping the series and moving on to the next round.

Oklahoma City leads series 3-0.

Eastern Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 4

New York Knicks 90 Boston Celtics 97 F/OT

The Boston Celtics were determined not to have their season end on their home court, and they came out on fire, building a 20 point lead into the third quarter. But Raymond Felton would bring the Knicks all the way back, at one point tying the game at 82-82 with a little over three minutes left in the fourth quarter. The Knicks would take the lead on a Felton jumper with 1:17 left in the fourth, but Kevin Garnett would tie the game with 1:04 left in the game. The Celtics had a chance to win the game in regulation, but Paul Pierce's long jumper would bounce off the back of the rim to force overtime.

But in the overtime, it was Jason Terry who would become the hero for the Celtics. He hit a key 3 pointer to put them in the lead, and his layup at the end would seal the deal, as he scored the final nine points of the game for Boston. Terry finished the game with 18 points while Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 29 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Jeff Green added 26 points while Kevin Garnett scored 13 points and pulled down 17 rebounds. Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 36 points while Raymond Felton added 27 points. J.R. Smith did not play in this game due to a suspension for fouling Jason Terry with an elbow to the face in Game 3.

New York leads series 3-1.

Eastern Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 4

Miami Heat 88 Milwaukee Bucks 77

Miami would come into this game without the services of one of their big three, Dwayne Wade, who sat out of the game with a nagging knee injury. It didn't matter, though; the Heat would easily win this game. Milwaukee tried to stay with the Heat and were competitive through the third quarter, but Miami would pull away in rather business-like fashion. Lebron James scored 30 points for the Heat while Ray Allen added 16 points. Monta Ellis led the Bucks with 21 points while Mike Dunleavy added 17 points. But Larry Sanders and Brandon Jennings struggled, as they had only 10 points between them. Miami now awaits the winner of the Bulls/Nets series, which would begin on Saturday if it ends tomorrow.

Miami wins series 4-0.

Western Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 4

San Antonio Spurs 103 Los Angeles Lakers 82

The injury-depleted Lakers really had no chance to win this game, and in addition to not having Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Steve Blake, and Jodi Meeks, they lost Metta World Peace to a cyst on his knee prior to the game, and they played like they were waving the white flag. Dwight Howard was ejected early in the third quarter for two technical fouls, and the lakers were forced to rely on reserves like Chris Duhon and Andrew Goudelock. The Spurs never trailed in this game, and they crusied easily to a sweep of the series. Tony Parker led the Spurs in scoring with 23 points in just 26 minutes of play, while Tim Duncan added 11 points in limited minutes. The Spurs now await the winner of the Dever/Golden State series while the Lakers now have a lot of issues to deal with during the offseason.

San Antonio wins series 4-0.

LA destroyed their chances this season when they hired Mike D'Antoni, who gave us one of the absolute worst coaching jobs of at least the last 10 years. Hell, Randy Pfund did a better job in the playoffs, and Del Harris got more out of his talent, than D'Antoni did.

And the visionary who hired him will Snyderize the franchise.
