I have only met two orgers briefly... Shorty and DeadFlowerz. It was a lovely meeting, and funny too... because how can you talk for hours with people you just meet for the first time and never run out of things to say. Its like I've known them for years.
There are orgers here I condsider real friends and I never met them.... they are kind, fun and each has their own flavor. Some have left the org. and I still talk to them on FB... bonded forever.
ZombieKitten-the very first orger who reached out to me and welcomed me here. She was a true embassador of friendship and ALWAYS so sweet and fun to talk to when ever I do talk to her here. She would be the first of some real amazing people I would interact with.
There are so many more amazing orgers who, over the years...had me in tears with laughter and offered support, and ear, advice, or just fun conversation... all of who I value and am happy to read about and interact with online. There is such and extraordinary group of orgers here! You all have helped me to become a better human knowing you... for the most part, (a few of you are really weird -not in a good way- and you know who you are...) the rest I am happy I have met.

I can honestly say all the orgers I have met in real life, I call dear friends. Especially the ones I keep regular (probably facebook) contact with... As for those I have not met, I feel particularly fond of Serious, Fauxie, Kidadynamite, and kpowers are the first to come to mind.
Johnart really needs to adopt me and Sexton is (pathetically) one of my bestfriends.
If you will, so will I | |

Well, you could always begin with your contributions to it.

But I do have a question for the op:
How can you be impersonal friends with someone?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
i think what he means in his post by "personal friends" is friends that you know personally and meet up in real life on a regular or irregular basis through the year, just like any regular friends, and not people you only know online, or have maybe met just once but keep in contact online
ie. like proper friends in the normal sense of the word. like the type of friends you had before the internet existed
i know a few orgers like the OP who i see from time to time, who i can call or text and meet for a drink or go to the movies in real life. who live minutes away from me. i go to the movies regularly with an orger and used to have lunch once a week with the OP. others i used to drink and go out with weekly

I see... So it's also (probably even mainly) a question about distance and practicality. I'm sure that I would meet the folks I mentioned for a drink more often, if they didn't live in other countries, that is...

I had friends they moved to Florida
echoing responses to Dave1992's Q
I am not personal friends with any of you, but know that the org friends I have met online and in person would be there if I asked.
They are quite a few and they know who they are, and they should know that I would be there for them too, as long as I am not otherwise occupied. Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC). Virgil was such a lying bastard!

i had a few that moved away too. in fact that's how i lost regular touch with many people. at the end of the 90s we had a group of fans who were orgers who would meet each friday/saturday and sometimes sundays and go out drinking and clubbing together and other stuff too

probably only two, but to genuinely be friends is difficult for me, so two is quite a lot! My Legacy

Unique got my intentions with the question right, but it was fun to read everyone's ties anyway (that other thread is similar but not quite what I'd asked).
It's amazing how such a disparate group of people can be brought together by a common bond, even though in many other ways they could be utterly opposed (as we see by a few of the orguments on here!).
It's a shame the USA is such a huge place as many people on the same land mass can't visit each other much. In the UK it's easier, but it's just that there aren't as many of us. We need to stand up, organise!
When I think of all the people that went to the O2 concerts, tens of thousands, it freaks me out to realise so few are on the Org. What's up with that...it wouldn't be the case with Justin Bieber! "I'm much too hot to be cool"

I guess if we go by the OP's true meaning for this thread then I would still say Nathan/TRON. We see each other at least once a month.

I can't say I've got really close relationships with any orgers (I've been too shy to pursue the opportunities ), but... [Edited 4/10/13 15:33pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I'm pretty sure that if an orger has met your parents and you have met their parents that's personal, right? I'm the mistake you wanna make

I would think so!
My Mom has met 4 orgers... when she hung out with us at a Prince concert... and Sheila E! "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"
